So is Enes Kanter going to play next year or something

It doesn't look like we have any interest in moving Millsap or Al and Favors is definitely staying going by these deals and aggression towards mediocre wing free agents (which would fill up our roster). Going by my count, Millsap, Al, and Favors all need around 32-36 minutes a game since our offense is really bad without Millsap and Al and our defense sucks without Favors (and because if one of those three guys is playing around 24 MPG and coming off the bench, they're going to strangle the life out of Corbin). This leaves around 0 to negative 12 minutes available for Kanter, not really seeing what the Jazz's plans are for him.

PS: I am not Turkish, I'm wondering what we're doing with a third overall pick.

Its July 2nd. We still have 4 months until the season starts. In between now and then, we have summer league and pre season, which will both give us a snap shot of where he's at. Also, he'll be 20 this season.

There's a great chance that Al or Millsap will be moved between now and the beginning of the season, but even if they aren't, there's still room enough for Enes to get about 20 mpg this year....if he can play.

More than anything, I don't want to see us make a move just to make a move and then get ripped off in the deal. Stay patient and see what comes. If there isn't a move by the trade deadline, then we can freak the **** out.

If Kanter is ready for good minutes, he will get them. But hard to know that until the season starts...

I don't see a way in which Millsap and Al's trade value can get higher since we're going to have to cut their minutes a lot to play Favors and Kanter at least reasonable minutes and since it becomes closer and closer to just a rental. If anything, it's a lot more likely that the team will get ripped off if they wait until the deadline.

I agree we need to give Kanter a lot more minutes this year, it's somewhat annoying. At least he had a good attitude

This is EXACTLY how it works. The shorter the contract, the less value the actual player has. Half a season of an expiring contract is worth less than a full season in trade value. We saw this with Boozer. Good offers the last few years of his deal, same with AK, but once it got down to the final year, we'd be settling for taking on a bad contract with a pick or a lesser player than prior. The value will depreciate by the day once the season begins.

Kanter will earn more minutes. Favors and Kanter will both score and rebound more....showing they are ready....then Jeffson big expiring pick will get traded.

Time will show. kanter is nominated for the summerleague squad and also the turkish national team squad. This means plenty of minutes for him this summer! Thats the reason why i am thinking Kanter will show some essential improvements, his rookie-season was awful right from the start. Consider that he had a nearly two years gap of playing organized basketball - thanx to the ncaa and lockout - (except the eurobasket 2011 in september). In my opiniton despite this facts and lack of game-experience he did a solid job in his first year, because it felt like he came fresh out of high school as a junior..

Last year was the rookie year and he had two borderline All-Stars starting ahead of him, and Favors who was a sophmore and played better as well. He was away from the game for a year, you didn't expect him to get big minutes right off the bat right? I'm pretty sure either Al Jefferson or Millsap will be traded this season, and even if they don't, Al Jefferson and Millsap will be free agents in 2013, one of them will have to go as we can't retain both, especially since Millsap will be asking for a whole lot more than $8.6M. Also remember that when Kanter becomes a free agent we can match any offer, so it's not like we don't have leverage with his PT.
