Wild Idea- Milsap for Derrick Williams?

Just an idea.

I like Milsap a lot....he is our best player....he is much better than Derrick Williams of Minnesota.

If...........If....if...if.....the Jazz choose not to sign him to a 4 yr. -$40M extension.......what can we trade him for.

Paul is great, but if we are going to have a full sized PF with Favors......do we trade him.

If so.......Minnesota chose Williams, who plays behind their best player, so he does not get the playing time. I am not sure if Williams can play half the time at SF....I have not seen him play much.

I bet Minnesota gives up on Williams and trades him for the first really good offer, like Milsap is a decent return for him.

I like Willams as a talent.

Would you do that trade?

Have to add the gs pick for minnesota to consider imo.

Id be for it though. Derrick isn't ready yet and could carve himself a nice 6th man role with us.

Wolves have Kevin Love earning a max contract...... They will need a large amount to re-sign Pekovic...... They can't afford to pay Millsap what he will want to earn......

I doubt we'd have to do that, they've been trying to ship him everywhere and will have to lower their price for publicly shopping him. They seem to have given up on him quite early. That said, I'd only do this if Paul wanted over 12mil/yr.

I'd do it in a heart-beat, even with the GS pick included.

Minny never does though.

I am surprised by the number of people that like Williams over Milsap. Include Milsap and the GSW pick? C'mon.

That being said, the fact that they wanted to trade Williams for Pau Gasol, gives you an idea of what they are thinking Williams value is.

the fact that minny already has him on the block should say something. jazz should count themselves lucky they didn't have the opportunity to draft the guy.

I've got no clue why Williams was picked second. At best, he becomes what Millsap is now.

That's what I was thinking too. He showed his lack of maturity during the combine, when he said "sometimes I even amaze myself.". Sounds like the Wolves weren't as amazed.

That is a rumor that the Lakers started. Misleading. Although most people like Pau, nobody is willing to take his contract unless they can dump one or two of their poisonous contracts back on the Lakers.

Nobody wants Pau......and his $20M contract. Those high paid players destroy a teams ability to sign other players without getting a brutal luxury tax.

Yes..Williams is a tweener also.....a bigger tweener.

DerrWill is like Kanter- a high draft pick that nobody wants to pay fair value for. Those types do not get equal value in trades, so MINN keeps him, of course.

Three team deal?

Let's assume Batum gets matched and stays in PDX.

Jazz send Al Jefferson
Jazz receive Derrick Williams, Martell Webster, Wayne Ellington

Philly sends Andre Igoudala
Philly receives Al Jefferson

Minnesota sends Derrick Williams, Martell Webster, Wayne Ellington
Minnesota receives Andre Igoudala

May have to add some picks, but just an idea. Minny is obviously looking for an athletic wing, they get it. Jazz free up room for Favors and shore up some shooting, and get a good cheap PF in case Paul leaves, and Philly replaces Brand.

I like this deal a lot. Seems to make sense for everyone. Is it predicated upon Favors playing C? Or do you then try to sign Kaman?

Did anyone else picked after him lottery have a better season than him or showed more potential?

The same reason anyone gets picked second. Drafting for the NBA is not an exact science. Also worth pointing out that the draft shouldn't be judged until 2-3 years later.

Klay Thompson, biased, but Enes Kanter. Domo and Jonas also quietly had excellent seasons overseas. Biyombo was better (which shocked me). There were a couple others as well. I was pretty sour on Williams going into the draft, though.

I'm not exaggerating, nor am I a cougar fan, but I would put his rookie season on par with that of Jimmer. He did shoot .026 percent better from 2 but was nearly a whole .1 worse from 3 with unimpressive rebounding and defensive stats. I didn't watch either one of them too much, but I would say Jimmer was a disappointment, while Derrick was an embarrassment.

I do agree with Prole that you should give them 3 years to truly judge a draft, and probably add in a year if there is a lockout in the middle of it.

Kawhi Leonard, Marshon Brooks, Biyombo, Klay thompson, Brandon knight, Iman Shumpert, Chandlar Parsons, kenneth faried, Enes, Nikola Vučević, Isaiah Thomas in addition to Domo and Jonas.

TWEENERS SHOULD NOT GO THAT HIGH!!!!! NO MORE TWEENERS!!!!
