Coach Tanjevic is a legend of the sport in Europe, famous for his focus on developing younger players, and never was very diplomatic in his interviews, but wow, those were some harsh words.

I can't say I disagree with his assessment on Kanter's development, although he forgot to mention how bad last summer's NT used to play (not really his responsibility but still, that certainly hadn't been a good chance for Kanter to showcase his offensive skills).

Oh great, he was willing to teach Enes how to shoot threes and flop on the defensive end. What a magnanimous fellow.

bogdan tanyevic : enes has forget how to play basketball, he will never be a good center, he is a power forward and he can shoot better than all guards in turkey, but in nba you can never see hin shoot from outside including 3 pointer

He also seems to forget that the NBA is ten times better at defense than any other league. I would put up any...even Sac against any Europe team and I bet the NBA would win easily. Wow, guy is way off in my opinion.

Kanter is the smart one to stay away from that guy. hehe

I'm not from Europe but I remember Iverson and the Sixers losing to a Euro team a few years back.

I've always said that's Kanter's big problem: they're not developing his 25-foot jumper.

Does this guy have a RealGM account? I'm pretty sure I've seen him posting around here....

I guess Kanter is not the next Moses Malone but Memo Okur instead. I guess if your from Turkey and over 6 foot 10 then your too tall to post up as that would be too easy and you need to stay behind the 3 point line.

With that said, I do think Kanter has a nice 15 foot jumper that he reluctantly shot last year. He needs to be encouraged to take that shot especially if the Jazz continue to put their centers at times at or near the top of the key with the ball in their hands.

I feel like Kanter lacks the length to score in the post. Nearly all of his points come from his foot work, whereas players like Al easily shoot over tall defenders. I'm not sure how Kanter is going to find points against lengthy defenders. Although he did light up Bynum pretty good. Hopefully P3 helps him find some lift.

As a turkish fan, I agree with Tanjevic, although I don't like him that much. This guy knows Kanter more than anyone. He was the guy who gave a chance to Kanter to play in Euroleague. Keep in mind that Kanter was only 17 at the time. Kanter got consistent minutes in that team, although they had Erden (played for Celtics and Cavs , had a lot injuries and came back to Turkey), Asik (played for Chicago, now in Houston), Kanter, Savas (National Team player) and Turkcan (played in NBA and Euroleague's all time rebound leader). Tanjevic can develop his bigs. 3 Turkish bigs were also drafted in 2012 (All young 2nd Round prospects).

About Kanter, he could be a good pick and roll player, he has outside shot which is not utilized. I agree with Tanjevic about his development. He's stronger, rebounds better but his offense is a question mark. He should have stayed at Turkey for one more season instead of practicing with Kentucky. He could have developed a lot more.

He needs take open 15-20 footers so that he can have multiple options at the offense.Currently he's just trying post up and if there's a double team he either passes the ball (turns it over a lot) outside or he forces a tough shot. If he can bank that open shot, he could become an excellent strong PF instead of a center

Didn't Enes choose to go to the states, and stay in the states, all in the name of better player development? And wasn't that a couple of years ago? Corbin is way down the line on this decision, and I'm glad one of the strongest players in the NBA isn't trying to become a spot up 3 point shooter.

Kentucky's player development system is terrible, he went to the states to be picked higher in the draft.

So does that mean the draft scouting is terrible?

Even after he lost eligibility, he chose to stick around and practice in Kentucky instead of head back to play with the Turkish coaches, right?

Adrian Dantley lacked the length to score in the low post and it got him into the Hall of Fame.

I hope Kanter comes up short like Dantley.

Dude's just too strong. With another season under his belt and a little bit of good coaching Kanter will be making some other people's life big time miserable in the paint. With the correct drive, work ethic, attitude kid can be really good.

Listen. Enes Kanter was a 19 year old rookie. This poppy cock of his outside shot not being utilized or him not getting enough PT is dumbfounding. Memhet Okur, who was a proven Euro League player and 23 years old when he came over to the NBA, played 19mpg in his rookie season and despite the fact that his BEST quality as a player was his ability to stretch the floor as a near 7 footer, attempted 1.6, 0.7, and 0.8 3-pointers per game during his first 3 years. He didn't begin to really establish himself as a deadly outside shooter until his 5th season at the age of 27. In the meantime, he was being used as a defender/rebounder, finisher and mid range shooter. It took him time and experience to grow into his skill set.

Yet here we are after Enes' rookie season on a playoff team with two All Star caliber bigs in front of him (not to mention a future star as well) and we're talking about it like he's a bust or a disappointment who has not been used properly?

I don't like him but he is right. NBA is better because players are good, not coaches.
