Tyreke Evans Anyone?

Tyreke Evans is being shopped. Could he be the Jazz PG of the future? He isnt a true PG but either is Mo WIlliams. Here is a trade that works and I think the Kings would do ti especially if the Offers arent too high for Evans. Giving up Burks hurts but it doesnt look like he is going to be in the rotation anyway and Evans gives us a player able to play Back up PG, SG, and SF and could be our PG next year if Mo WIlliams is nto resigned.
Raja Bell and Burks for Tyreke Evans
If the Kings like Burks they do the trade if not then not likely to get done bc Im not adding any picks to get it done.

It all depends on whether you think he can play point guard. The fact that Sacramento is playing the 60th pick of the draft last year ahead of him at PG should answer that question.
IMO he's less of a point guard than Mo Williams, and Mo Williams isn't enough of a point guard for my tastes.

No thank you, not even for free. Mo is not a true PG either but at least he can shoot. Oh, yeah, and he also passes to players in front of him in fast breaks instead of taking the ball all the way himself. Pass.

He can't shoot and he definitely can't play PG........ I don't want him taking Hayward's spot.......

I'd do it. People seem to forget just how good this kid was before Sacto started bouncing him around the line-up. The guy is the first player since LeBron to average 20/5/5 his rookie season. Then for some reason Sacto decides that their ROY point guard should play shooting guard. After, not surprisingly, struggling to perform at shooting guard you would think Sacto would move him back to point guard, but instead they move him to small forward. Makes no sense.
I like Burks, but he is a poor man's Tyreke Evans. Watch their styles of play and I think you'll agree. Difference being that Evans is more talented and a better defender.
Check him out...

Tyreke's rookie season is one of the most over-rated occurrences in the past decade. Everyone who watched the Kings play that season saw how he got those numbers. He was given an unlimited credit and green light to do WHATEVER he wanted. He didn't pass, he didn't coordinate the offense, he didn't shoot well, he didn't get others involved. He wouldn't even pass to players in front of him in fast breaks when there was no one between them and the basket and chose to dribble through defenders instead.
Those five assists are misleading and he didn't get them because he is a good or willing passer - he got them because he had no option but to pass when he was caught in the air after another penetration attempt to the basket with no way to shoot. Many players would get those numbers if their coach let them play in such individual manner. And most importantly, the Kings lost A LOT. And in the seasons that followed they continued to lose A LOT, regardless of how he played or in which position. It's just that he got less credit from his coach to do whatever the heck he wants which adversely affected his stats. And regardless of his numbers, his team did not progress, which just shows how empty his stats were to begin with and how little effect they had then and now. HE IS NOT A POINT GUARD. HE CAN'T SHOOT. HE DOESN'T PASS. The Jazz should stay away from him.
*edit
Even in a 6:44 mins of highlights he only passes once...

I'd take him for minimal assets (not first round picks or any of our young core leaving). Just give him the qualifying offer and sit him on the bench until he gets his head together and puts in some serious time shooting. Sacramento is awful at developing players, I think we'd do much better.

Not as a pg. I wouldn't mind him as a sg or sf. Have him and Hayward play the two positions interchangeably but even then I wouldn't pay a high price for him. I'd trade Jefferson for him. It would clear out the logjam we have.

He's a career 25% three-point shooter. That's worse than Jamaal Tinsley.
Let me say that again,
he's a worse three-point shooter than Jamaal Tinsley.

Don't get me wrong. I wouldn't sacrifice a lot for him, but I do think Burks is a fair gamble. I see Burks being a lot like Tyreke.

I can see your point. But since Burks is younger and plays for the Jazz instead of four years for the Kings, I think his chances to become a more rounded player are better. I'd rather try and mold a 2nd year player in Burks than re-program and undo all of the bad habits Tyreke picked up from playing four years for the Kings (as well as the ones he had from even earlier), not to mention the fact that he still doesn't have a defined position, and that a back court with him and Hayward basically sets us back to last year when we couldn't buy a bucket from 3. And Tyreke will get a similar contract (per year) to what Mo gets right now at the very least.

Don't think Tyreke Evans can improve the Jazz.

We already have a Tyreke clone on the bench.

Are you talking about Burks? He's already a better shooter than Tyreke. Let's hope he turns out to be a better player all-around.

I will die before Reke is in a Jazz uniform.

I think he has some very interesting assets.
He's not all that tall (6'4 without shoes), which keeps him quick, both off the dribble and laterally. But he's got a monstrous wingspan (almost 7'), allowing him to defend a lot of different positions. His standing reach is 8'8", only 1 inch less than Blake Griffin. And he's pretty stout, so he can finish and body people. So he can be a physical and imposing defender, and finish at the rim.
He's got a great handle, but he can't shoot. I don't know when points outside the paint became more important that points inside the paint to people, but I think Evans has his priorities straight.
He has some very bad habits and maybe a bad attitude, but I'd be interested in the Jazz trying him out.

Look what tyreke did in his rookie season is special and very few players could have done that no matter how much greenlight they were given.
This is a OJ Mayo situation. We know the guy can ball but he's not given the proper chance to shine. We can get him for cheap ala how Dallas got Mayo who is beasting now. We gotta do it and let him run the show. You can't win championships without some serrious fire power and tykere is serious. You don't pass up on a player like him when your in our situation. Thats stupid, you just get him and let him play like he wants. Make it work, there no other sensible choice.
I think we may have something with tyreke running the show like mayo is along with Jefferson and Favors. Get a couple snipers next to those guys in the lineup and that starting unit will be dangerous. It can work, just let the guy play his game.
I also think Millsap for Thad Young is a great play for us. I know he's overpaid but finding a combo foward as talented as him who is willing to come off the bench is rare. We have something with our peices, we just gotta take advantage of it.

Kanter for picks, Gasol, Evans... This board needs for less pessimistic trade threads, imho.

What would Tyreke bring to the Jazz? He's a much worse scorer than Millsap and Al so he wouldn't get the ball much and he's one of the worst in the league without the ball. Mayo only looks good because of unsustainable three point shooting and the Grizzlies have been much better without him.

I don't think "trying him out" is an option. He is looking for a long term contract just like any other player. If you do get him it will be for a long period of time. That's a lot of time, money and time off other player's careers to throw away if it fails. By the time you get him to be a decent rounded team oriented player (if it is even possible) his contract will run out and you will most likely not be the one to reap the benefits.
As for
He's got a great handle, but he can't shoot. I don't know when points outside the paint became more important that points inside the paint to people, but I think Evans has his priorities straight.
It's important when everybody knows you can't shoot and start packing the paint against you. Then Evans is even less efficient and effective, and life is more difficult for our bigs. Not to mention that if your back-court is Evans and Hayward, you have a very poor shooting lineup (add two bigs and pray your SF can shoot lights out).
What's the knock on Burks? that he needs to improve his shooting and play off the ball and get teammates involved. We all know he can get to the line. Do you think he's got his priorities straight? If he was allowed to play the way Evans played in his rookie season and the same minutes, he'd log very similar stats.
