Hey,

I remember when I joined those forums, Jazz was one with a lot of traffic.
Lately we haven't so much active posters, so I was wondering how to make this forum more attractive to new posters, and former posters.

So I want you to share ideas to make this forum better.

Any Ideas???

Thank you and regards

FJS

This is the only forum I frequent, so I don't know much about them.

I just wanted to thank you for this post and your work! :D

Thank you.

I think in 2003 or 2004 another forum was created and a lot of realgm posters went to it... I always rated Realgm, due to, it's not only Jazz (altough I use to post only here) but it's nice other forums like NBA general, players comparisions and so on.

I think there's just too mich competition for everyone's attention nowadays...... Facebook, Twitter, life, whatever.....

I don't think you're ever going to get back to the level of posting of the first few years of Realgm.......

we should dress up in grey suits and go around team board to team board trying to convert other fans to Jazz fans.

You can go the Toronto Raptors route and have lots of sarcastic Sigline GIFs and self-deprecating snark. Hilarious forum and enjoyable. Jazz in 4 (and a half!).

I don't want to "steal" former ones... at least to have some news and retain them.

I think Toronto is the only sports city with lower self esteem than SLC. Poor guys get beat down in everything they do.

*cough*cleveland*cough*

anyway, as for me, it is mostly life getting in the way. but i have noticed, since the lockout, my passion for posting has been diminishing a little bit. and i also get most my nba fix from twitter and youtube now. i think it might have more to do with realgm rather than just the jazz page. realgm hasn't changed all that much in quite a few years.

I posted quite a bit the last few years. I've been a jazz fan for about 25 years, but this year has been especially boring IMO.

When we moved on from DWill I was excited at the thought of building with young guys, but our FO and coaching staff seem hellbent on stifling any of their growth giving them mostly career low minutes and committing to a treadmill year.

Our starting lineup consists of five guys that are not even under contract next year and we have about 7-8 guys who probably won't even be here next season.

It's hard to get excited about a first round sweep again especially when the players getting the majority of minutes probably won't even be here next year.

This feels like a wasted year and it has caused my enthusiasm to plummet.

We know what we have in these vets but I want to know what we have in our young guys.

I look at every other team that has drafted players in the lottery the last few years and this players are getting significant playing time and growing.

Oh and I'm tired of dump it into Al basketball.

I do post on another forum but i post here jjust as much so it's not that I've started to spend time somewhere else. It's this boring a** team and the obsession with middling vets that get treated like stars.

The end

Play your best players the most minutes. Best players means defense and offense not just offense. Start Favors, Millsap, Marvin Williams, Hayward, and Mo Williams and play them all 30-35 min per game. Use Big Al as a 6th man scoring against 2nd bigs as well as late in 4thr qtr. Play Kanter some minutes with Foye if playing well extra minutes if not less minutes. Use Carroll as back up only if energy needed. Back up PG use watson bc he provides energ.

PG Mo Williams 35 min Watson 13 min
SG Hayward 35 min Foye 13 min
C Favors 15 min Big Al 23 min Kanter 10 min
PF Millsap 30 min Favors 18 min
SF Mrvin 35 Carroll 13 min

Jazz playing too many guys and playing wrong guys. Play your best athletes and defenders.

Thats the problem with the forum, theyve waived the only half-interesting people that were on here, and ran off the rest.

I was going to suggest something very similar to this. Kind of a lame duck year for the Jazz.

This forum goes as the Jazz go. I find very little to be excited as a Jazz fan right now. Coming into this year I was excited about our young guys getting bigger roles and instead we get to watch the likes of Randy Foye play 30+ minutes a night. The front office seems content with just fielding an 8th seed year after year and I have very little interest in that.

Everyone who has been kicked was because they were trolling in other team forums. Well all except the guy who sent a German mod a pro-Nazi private message.

Two of the most active RealGM boards here are the Raptors and the Knicks, not only because of the large fan base, but also because lots of fans from other teams visit their boards. They go to the Raps board for the humor, Raps fans have the wittiest quips. They go to the Knicks board for all the non-NBA off-topic stuff. At one point during the summer, every thread on the entire first page of the Knicks board was an off-topic thread. Threads from anime to music to college applications to dating advice to job searching to video games to movies to everything under the stars.

So those are your two choices if you want to get more activity here; you can attract a ton of non-Jazzfan RealGM's onto the Jazz board by either following the Raptors or the Knicks model. Fill your forum with tons of hilarious quips or tons of off-topic non-NBA discussions of interest to the rest of RealGM. :D Eventually, the extra people will also discuss the jazz and other basketball topics. They come for the jokes and off-topics, and stay to engage in discussions about the team and basketball. Worked for the Raps and Knicks boards.

Those fan bases are huge. They have media markets in the tens of millions of people. Not 3 million.

Yes, but I'm just pointing out that a lot of the people posting on the Raps and Knicks boards are neither Raps nor Knicks fans. They just like to hangout on those boards instead of, or in addition to, the boards for their own teams. I mean, just look at the hilarious double entendre name of the post-game thread the Raps just put up "We're going streaking" How can you not love that sense of humor? And you don't have to be a Knicks fan to chime in on any of those multiple off-topic threads about dating, anime, the walking dead tvshow, etc. that are on the Knicks front page right now. It's not just their own fanbases that are posting in their forums, but fans from other teams who enjoy hanging out there.
