You need to grow into that in this league, unless you have the luxury of just putting a guy in there and letting him learn a lesson on the run. Well, we’re in a different spot. We need to make sure we have a chance to win the game.

And throw Alec Burks in there, too. We can’t even find time for him, because we’re trying to find guys minutes so they can get in a rhythm. It’s matchups some nights, and it’s how we’re playing on some nights. It’s another area where want to grow to where we force our will on teams, and not make adjustments to what other teams [are] doing all the time. And Alec Burks deserves more time.

It’s some size for us against a bigger [center]. With Derrick on a bigger [center], sometimes we have a problem.

Basically he wants to play the young guys but he was put into win now mode by the FO. So he's doing what a good coach should do and sticking with a lineup of "win now ready" vets through thick or thin and only make adjustments in the game on certain occasions because inconsistent adjustments during a game can really throw guys off. He's trying to build chemistry and consistency which is something fans ignore. Plus he sees weaknesses in some of the young guys that are more harmful than the vets weaknesses in terms of winning and doesn't have the luxery to let them develop on the fly. Some fans also ignore that or don't care their just looking for someone to blame and picked the easist target instead of the real culprit. Stop hating on Corbin and get on the FO.

Respect that man!!!

A coach who only follows orders is not really a coach. His answers only demonstrate that we hired the wrong guy.

Hired the wrong guy for what? He's doing exactly what the FO wants him to do which is why they hired him. He doesn't work for the fans even if we like to think so, he works for the Millers. If the fans want him to do somthing else than they should pay him.

You don't like what he's doing then take it up with the guys who hired him to do what he's doing and not the guy doing it. He's not gonna risk his job for some crazy fans that are gonna complain anyway.

The Corbin hate by some Jazz fans is mind-boggling to me. It seems like some kind of agenda to me. Which is creepy. Basically, it's creepy when someone tries to find ANY reason to hate on a person, or discredit anything positive they do. I can see that some of you rationally just don't like his style. But some of you others just take it too far, and find any reason to blame him for past, present, or future failures.

Do people not remember that for the 11-12 season, we were ranked in the bottom 5 in the league in the pre-season with most sports analysts? It was for a reason. We didn't have a very talented roster, and were very young. He got them to the playoffs. That's a pretty damn good feat coming from a guy in his first full season as a head coach, (actually, last season wasn't technically a full season either with 66 games.)

This season has been inconsistent to say the least. We're a deep team, but we have zero playmakers or stars. I actually thought our record would be worse at this point, considering the west got a little deeper in the off-season.

So what's my opinion of Corbin? He gets his players to play hard. That right there is a major feat in the modern NBA of egotistical players. He's built up chemistry for a team that I've rarely seen as a Jazz fan. And that just doesn't mean on the court, but all of these players like each other. They love being around each other. You can't be ignorant to the fact that Corbin definitely had a big part in that. As far as X's and O's go, he's been fairly good for such a young coach. Yes, he makes mistakes. But you name me one coach who wouldn't make mistakes being in Corbin's shoes. And please, for the love, don't name off names like the Van Gundys. Some of you seem to believe that we'd magically become a 60 win team with one of them as coach. There is no way in hell they would be that successful with this roster.

And after reading this article, it's pretty apparent that Corbin has his hands tied. And don't give me this BS about, a "real" coach would play all the young guys, and do what he wants. Please. Are you serious? This man is on his first contract as a head coach of an NBA team, and is making a damn good salary compared to the rest of us. Why would he risk his job by putting in inexperienced players? That makes no sense. It might make sense for a high school or college coach, but this is the NBA. It's a big business. Things work differently. He wants to win games, as he stated. And he admits that guys like Burks deserve time. But KOC brought in all of these vets for a reason, to play. What coach in this league would have the balls to bench a guy like Al making 13 million a year, and putting up 17 and 10? The same goes for Millsap, Mo, Marvin, ect. And even a guy like Foye, who's making a smaller amount, but he's still contributing to our team, and has proven his worth throughout his career. If you're going to bash someone, bash the front office. But that would be stupid as well. It's obvious they want the young guys to play as well. I mean, all of the vets are expiring after this season. There's a reason for that. And with the Big Al and Millsap rumors constantly being in the rumor mill, it's obvious that the front office is trying to find some room for the young guys.

Yes, at times, even I get frustrated with the front office and the coaching. But compare us to more than half the teams in the league, and we have it really good. Would you want to be a Minnesota or Charlotte fan right now?

Really good read. I would like to see more accountability with Al Jefferson and his lack of effort and hustle on defense, particularly when he is put into pick and roll situations. It would be one thing if he was busting his tail and doing everything he could, but his feet and body would just not cooperate. But you can visibly see the lack of effort, and the complete absence of awareness that he has. Those are things in his control, and he isn't doing everything he can to maximize his effectiveness. Once you put Al in the pick and roll, you're toast. He is terrible, terrible. And he's capable of being only a little below average, if he would try harder and put in the work. I want to hear some accountability and get a sense that our coaches and our organization are, in fact, working to address the shortcomings here.

Is that too much to ask for?

Except when they don't for enormous stretches of games (see: Memphis, Indiana, Denver etc.)

You mean the Minnesota that has Kevin Love, Ricky Rubio, Derrick Williams, Pekovic and Andrei Kirilenko being coached by Rick Adelman? Yeah, I'd rather be a Wolves fan right now. By the way, the Wolves would be in the playoffs if the season ended right now. The Jazz? Not so much.

I don't understand why people want to compare the Jazz to the worst teams in the league. I want to emulate the best teams because I want to compete on that level. Being satisfied with the thought that at least we aren't Charlotte is a true loser's lament.

Paul Millsap and Mo Williams are equally bad defenders. Our perimeter also gets beat on dribble penetration an awful lot, which often puts the bigs in embarrassing situations. Al Jefferson taking emphasized accountability for our defensive weaknesses makes no sense.

When certain teams make an effort to put Al in an island on the high pick-and-roll and exploit him, you don't think that's a specific problem worth talking about?

Not when we ignore the more important defensive issues such as our wings/guards keep letting other wings/guards drive into the lane at will and get easy buckets off of screen (This includes Hayward, Marvin and Carroll who are all big culprits). Take that phoenix game, our bigs got slaughtered because they had to worry about dragic and the other guards penetrating the lane while still try to guard their guy.

This happens almost every game and its the cause of way more points being gave up than what Al gives up because a penetrating guard usually breaks down your entire defensive set and many teams can do it to us at will. So if we mention things like that then yes Big Al's problems are worth talking about.

Corbin deserves a chance. He plays to win. He knows his players. There are a lot of good teams just below us trying to make the playoffs. We are going to be in a battle and it should be fun. I hope we keep Jefferson next year. He is an asset.

For one, what NBA players DON'T take games off every once in awhile? It's an 82 game season. YOU go play 82 games, or YOU go play back-to-backs, and see if you play hard every single night.

Secondly, did you seriously just say you'd rather be a Minnesota fan? Man, you must really have an agenda. We are like one game behind them right now, with more than half a season to go. But most importantly, I'm talking about the franchise as a whole. That means past, present, and future. They are one of the worst run organizations in the entire league. I don't think anyone besides you would agree with me there. And the only two names worth mentioning are Kevin Love and Rubio. And Love is a goner in two years. That just made your argument look even more ridiculous.

I know you're probably one of the smartest posters here, so I expect a better argument than that.

No agenda. You asked if I'd rather be a fan of Minnesota right now. I interpreted that as a hypothetical situation where instead of a lifelong Jazz fan with years of baggage from following the team I would be a lifelong T-Wolves fan with the associated baggage. It's analogous to asking: who has more reason for optimism right now? T-Wolves fans or Jazz fans?

I agree that it largely depends on Kevin Love, but that's no different than when the Jazz had Deron. David Kahn jokes aside, I don't see a ton of objective evidence that they're the poorly-run franchise everyone makes them out to be. I concluded that based on the nucleus of young players under contract a T-Wolves fan probably has more reason for optimism.

Every single coach plays to win, and owner can judge him only on that basic, Corbin is putting vets on floor because he want to have excuse in case if team would start to losing. This interview, besides many other things, is proving that he is wrong guy for this job. You dont have to be expert to see that his rotation is horrible, why he is playing Earl over Tins for example. Plus one more thing, playing youths is not equal with stating that you dont give damn about wining for Christs sake.
