Kanter can't finish

I don't know.
Maybe it's just my eyes.
But the last games Enes has really big troubles finishing the plays.
When he grab an offensive board he is trying to layup or making a tonn of pump fakes as the result his is called with the traveling or an offensive foul. Most of the time he just miss the basket.
He is so trying to score. Even don't think about passing out. He doesn't care that there are 3-4-5 players around him.
In the last season he dunked that ball in 30-40% times.

When he is given 20 - 25 guaranteed minutes, his game will change. Now he is trying to prove himself, and he unfortunately thinks that scoring is the only method to prove himself.

I think he'll earn 20-25 minutes once he changes his game.
I'm not worried about him finishing inside. As long as he continues to show good footwork, I'm happy with his offense. He's not as long as most centers, but he's learning how to cope with that under the basket (Millsap is a good teacher for that skill unless it's against Lakers' bigs). I am worried about his defense and fouls. He won't alter any shots, so he's gotta learn defensive position, when to invade space, and when to glance away.

just a random thought:
does anyone remember if kanter ever took a a charging foul on defense in his short career with the jazz?

he does use his body to absorb all the contact a lot, but doesnt "flop" while doing it. he just tries to stay strong.

Kanter needs to learn to pass the ball..... Too often he gets caught underneath the rim trying to dribble and go up for a score, pass the ball out, reset and try again.......

We have to wait another 5-6 years. Cause Big Al spent this time to start share the ball when he is double teamed.

Kanter has probably dunked more this year than all of last year combined. Kanter has incredible foot work, the reason being that he is going to get blocked without it. He'll never play above other centers, unless you count Chuck Hayes.
I love that Kanter doesn't "take" charges. It's the absolute weakest defensive play possible. You literally do nothing but stand still. It's frustrating to watch, and let's be honest, there is a very small percentage of NBA players that could bowl through Kanter legitimately. Chances are if Kanter gets knocked to the ground on a layup, he is flopping. I'd rather him stay on his feet, play defense and put himself in position to get a rebound.

it wasn't a criticism, just a random thought like i mentioned. it just happened to occur to me that i can't remember that it ever happened. it's cool either way. i'm on the kanter bandwagon.

Kanter is the least of our problems. Once he gets 35 plus min per game then he will become something Big Al will never become which is an Allstar. Favors/Kanter will be an Allstar duel for as long as the Jazz can afford to keep them. I just wish it started this year instead of next year.

The only thing bugging me about Kanter right now, is
a) his arm "waving" when he goes for a block, looking like he's trying to hit a volleyball (srsly Enes, u r not gonna block a ball like that)
b) his "overextending" when he tries to help defend perimeter players. He often ends up at the 3 pt line BEHIND the opponent player.

well IMO there is no problem with kanters ability to finish. he has a sweet jumpshot which is definitely improved and 1 vs 1 he is a beast because he pushes the opponents around with his fat ass

1 vs 2 he is able to score sometimes but depends on the other 2 guys if they are no big men. the real problem is he tries to score against 3 guys!!!and then there is no chance to score for anybody. i hope once he gets more minutes this problem will solved because he tries to step up in corbins eyes but he is blind and doesn't care about kanter no matter what he does and thats frustrating!
Hustle + Skills = Success
the only thing that kanter needs is trust and more playing time to extend his experience. same thing about favors!
2 great kids with great attitude but no trust and less playing time its a shame the jazz are doing a terrible job!

He's shooting .538 on the season so far. In fact, he has the best fg% of anyone on the entire team.
He'll pass the ball out when he gets minutes. Right now all he's trying to do is earn minutes.

Enes Kanter's just about as technically skilled as Kevin Love in my book, and the latter once had significant difficulty finishing in the basket's shadow. Soon enough the Wolves' PF got used to applying his strength and guile, learning what he could and couldn't get away with in consistent, bulk minutes once the Wolves shifted Al Jefferson. Perhaps this is ringing some bells...

Yes...Al Jefferson must be the problem with Kanter finishing inside...

Indeed. It's not even that discriminate; it could be anyone else.

Kanter can finish fine. He's at 68.5% at the rim for the season, which is among the top 20% ish or so of big men in the league. This is ridiculous. He has a lot to learn, but finishing is not his issue.

The skills and the fundamentals are there, he's just extremely raw. The same goes for Favors.
