3 Scenariors w/ GSW's pck last year

I am still ticked off about the epic tank job last year by GSW's, which I feel should have been fined by the league. With the 8th pick we could have easily moved up with Sac to get Lillard (preferred), or stayed where we were and taken my other favorite player Andre Drummond who I felt was one of the all star level players coming out of this draft (Anthony Davis, Lillard and Drummond).

This would have given us options with Kanter and Favors and would have likely pushed forward the trade of Al or Paul to last off season (which likely would have garnered more than we will fetch for them at the trade deadline). Still just so disappointed about the result of last seasons tank job, and it makes it worse that they are likely to make the playoffs this year in an even weaker draft.

I HATE GSW TOO! But I have to admit that the tank job -> resulting in Harrison Barnes is working out pretty well for them.

I guess the only satisfaction that we can get is Bogut disparaging ownership and the team.

No I won't let it go... that was a franchise changing event for us. What does a Utah Jazz Franchise look like with a future All Star PG who can shoot it like Lillard. And all that would have had to happen was San Antonio miss one shot in the final game. or a little less of a tank job. We may be years away from a PG with that kind of talent to come into the draft again, and being in a position in the draft to do anything about it.

Chance and luck in the draft shape or brake franchises everyday: San Antonio moving from 7 to 1 in the year of Tim Duncan. Tony Parker being available when the Jazz pass to take Raul Lopez... Manu developing at the 59th pick. The reverse happens too: Portland passing on Jordan, taking Oden over Durrant etc.

This is/was such a huge deal its criminal. Even if we couldn't get that deal done we still have a future stud in Drummond.... it just makes me sick everytime I think about it. There should be a forum for owners to bring tanking to the attention to the commissioner in situations like last year... Stern should have told them that they had to play their players or they wouldn't get their pick regardless... pull the "For the Good of the Game".

It just makes me sick that they have pulled it together this year in a worse draft and we are looking at a low 20's pick.

I agree. Last year was a strong draft and we got nothing. I wish we had gotten their draft pick and hadn't made the playoffs so we would have had two very high draft picks. We will have trouble making the playoffs again this year, but I wish our team and players well. No player bashing which apauls me.

And I wish the Jazz hadn't signed Gail Goodrich and had drafted Magic Johnson.

 yeah, demanding injured players get on the court and play is a great idea

I demand the NBA force Mo Williams to suit up and play before his injured thumb heals as I believe the Jazz are intentionally tanking for a better pick this season by not playing him which forces them to settle for a terrible PG combo in Tinsley and Watson.

Sorry, but they sat Curry who wasn't injured the last 15 games of last year when they were in full tank mode. They only played David Lee a few minutes, they would sit every veteran in the 4th quarter to ensure defeat. I watched every game and was so frustrated. The players on the bench and the coach all knew what was up. The opposing team announcers knew what was up... they would talk about it the whole second half... about how the Jazz had their pick and that the GSW's had to lose virtually all their games to keep their pick and that come the fourth quarter all the starters would be out etc. etc. etc.

It should have been fined by the league. It was worse than Popovich sending his stars home for the 5 game in 7 nights against the Heat on the road this year.

GSW clearly tanked and it clearly worked out for them.

Sad that they did it and sad that teams can get away with it, but it's time to move on. And as frustrating as their shady management is, the Warriors' loyal fans deserve something to cheer about after years and years of misery.

I just think that given how the league fined the Spurs this year, they should have fined or warned tanking teams to stop what they were doing and play straight up. But when you pull Lee in the middle of the 3rd quarter cause you are up 10, and then you pull Brandon Rush with 8 minutes to go because he is on fire and you are still leading by 5... that is not playing straight up.

Developing players is one thing: Pulling a guy because he is playing well so that you can lose is a totally different thing. When fans boo your team at home because you are winning and playing well and then you pull the guys doing well so that you lose that should be fined in my mind.

One step further would have been to just take the pick away or at least rig the coin flip so that the team loses the pick when they flipped a coin with Toronto and Detroit.

Stern nixed a great trade for NOLA when he wanted to get Gordon instead... he fined the spurs... he could have fined GSW's and should have taken the pick away.. or at least made them play straight up the last 20 games.

Then we would have gotten the pick, and changed our franchise future. Heck... we gave up Deron Williams to get that pick... He should have been looking out for us as much as he was for NOLA when they traded CP3.

Its just hard to see Lillard as a future All Star get a near triple double tonight, and see the Warriors on their way to sticking us with a 20 something pick in a bad draft...

Stinks all around.

What upsets me the most is that the league was all for the Warriors tanking, and then fines the Spurs for NOT playing their best players AND STILL TRYING TO WIN! I understand that GSW had injuries, but they were sitting healthy players too... and yet, no fines. It is pretty sweet that the Hornets got Davis over the Bobcats. Hahaha
GO PELICANS!!!!

Blackham, it's tough to take you seriously when you don't have the basic facts right. Curry was hurt. He had numerous injuries to the ankle throughout that season and in the end had to have surgery. There was no way he was playing. GS could have been in the finals and he wouldn't have played. At the time there was serious concern about his career in general. The Bucks supposedly asked for Ellis instead of Curry in the Bogut trade due to his injury situation.

Funny cuz everyone said last years draft was going to be one of the weakest PG drafts in history. Players will shine through out the year, and come draft time, there are going to be some surprising names climbing the ranks.

I could be wrong on Curry, but the tanking that drove me Crazy was pulling Lee and Rush everytime you were in the lead in the 4th quarter and then putting in guys who had no business in the league... and out of position at that.

As far as the draft goes... Here's to hoping a Rajon Rondo type slips to 21.

Its funny though. If any other team pulled some tank job bs, it wouldn't matter to any Utah jazz fan. But since we nabbed that pick, we should be fined huh? LOL. Teams have tanked for picks pleeeeeenty of times. I don't recall any rule saying it wasn't allowed.

Can you find even one game last season that fits what you state above?

LEE HAD SURGERY BUDDY. Be strong my brother its ok. Spurs TANKED for Duncan. Lakers were gifted Gasol then Howard.

Stern should fine every team in the lottery that chooses to let young talent develop rather than give players like Richard Jefferson 40mpg. I mean there was no way we were going to make the playoffs, why not let players like Klay, Jenkins, get significant playing time?
