Marvin Williams 2nd pick in 2006
Randy Foye 7th pick in 2006
Favors 3rd in 2010
Hayward 9th in 2010
Kanter 3rd in 2011
And still we suck... the way are more picks?

I really wish people would stop evaluating players by where they were drafted. Before it's used, a draft pick has a certain value based on its historical potential to land a star.
I'd be content to keep acquiring top ten picks until we land a franchise player.

we should first let our most recent lottery picks play and then complain that we suck even though we got high draft picked players.

Williams and Foye are 6 year veterans, they certainly don't count as building blocks......
And we haven't seen what Favors/Kanter/Hayward/Burks are capable off because our Coahc is a moron, and out ownership is more worried about being the 8th seed, than being bad for a few years and setting themselves up for a decade (a la The Thunder).......

Foye is not playing like a 7th pick and Marvin shouldn't have been take over Paul and Deron, so he's a bust in his own right, and they were acquired for cheap. Hayward is doing fine, he wont ever be a superstar, but he's young and doing very well in his role. He's having confidence issues, sort of like Kirilenko had a few years ago, eventually he'll break out of it. Favors and Kanter are coming along, they are not getting thrown into the pit, so it's going to take a little more time for them to develop.

Marvin Williams is a giant bust and Randy Foye was taken simply because there was no one else in that draft.
The Clippers having multiple top 4 picks is working out well for them.

more crappy vets. That's the answer. Trade our picks for more average vets.

FJS is absolutely right. So many people on here want to tank because it will magically make us a championship team. Foye was drafted higher than he should've been because he was in a weak draft class... kind of like this one. So we should tank so that we can draft a guy higher than he should be drafted. Yeah... makes total sense.

Threads like these are what makes me wish we just got rid of the draft lottery altogether. Does no one else find it wrong to reward teams for being bad? Am I really the only one here that our front office isn't on the rebuilding bandwagon? Too much of it is dependent on luck; for every Oklahoma City, you have a Sacramento; for every LA (Clippers), you have a Detroit, or a Washington, etc. Far more teams fail than succeed at this game.

In 2009, the Thunder and Clippers tanking in a weak draft class lead to them getting James Harden and Blake Griffin.
I don't think there's another way for the Jazz to try to get a player of the caliber of those guys other than through the draft.

Chris Paul isn't signing here in the off-season people...... Tanking or trading for bad contracts while also getting a high draft pick, a la Charlotte with Ben Gordon is our only answer at this point....... And by tanking, I don't mean losing games on purpose, I mean playing our young players 30 minutes a game and seeing what happens...... If they happen to win games that way, great.......
