This makes a trade a near-certainty, no?

So who do we trade to get a decent point guard? Millsap, Foye, M Williams, and of course Bell.
Who can we get?

I dont see how the Jazz can consistently win with Tinsely and Watson getting major minutes. Time for a trade is now if this team wants to stay in playoff race.

I just have a feeling its Lowry and Bargnani to the Jazz in the next few days.

At this point I assume Bell has a negative trade value. Anyone know how what the eligibility rules are for Foye, mo and marvin williams since they were traded/just signed to the jazz?

i'd really hate for this injury to force the jazz's hand and make them do a trade they don't want or just rather not do. we are not going to win a championship this year. heck, even with mo we might not make the playoffs, so there is no reason for the jazz to make a trade that they didn't want to do before, to replace a one year rental player.

no trade necessary. if you didn't make a trade for a PG until now, to me it means there isn't one you really like and can get. don't settle. not for maybe get to the playoffs and get swept again. play as hard as you can with what you have, and if you fall out of playoff contention, play the young guys (which you should play more regardless). if you do make a trade, make it a small one for a player that doesn't cost that much and you would like to audition, like scott machado for example. don't panic, don't jeopardize the long term future by settling\ getting rid of good assets for marginal average PG. WAIT FOR THE DRAFT and take a shot there.

bell has a negative value as far as his contribution as a player, but since he is an expiring contract, he's got a positive trade value.

as for the status of marvin and foye - they are eligible to be traded, the period in which the jazz weren't allowed to trade them has passed. same goes for mo, though his injury might complicate things.

Either the Jazz have to trade for a PG to stay in the playoff hunt or they give up on that quixotic quest and trade Al and/or Paul.

I'm hoping for the latter.

i don't think the two are mutually exclusive. we don't know what will happen or would have happened until the trade deadline in respect to our roster. for all we know, al and\or paul will\would have been traded regardless of mo's health.

just don't waste good assets just to bring a "meh" pg that will make us stay in the same position we are in now.

Jazz GM Dennis Lindsey declined to comment on Jazz's plans w/o Mo Williams until team knows more, which will be after surgery.

Given Lindsey's background, I'm assuming jazz FO doesn't panic right away. I still think if a deal happens it doesn't happen until on or closer to the trade deadline

Hey Jazz fans - curious what you think your team would give up for Brandon Jennings?

BJ doesn't gets much love here. i personally wouldn't want him on the jazz, and wouldn't want the jazz to give anything for him.

I don't really think this forces the FO's hand. Mo was not the answer at PG, losing him doesn't really hurt us that much. Statistically it hurts us, but if the Jazz were to bring in a SG with similar numbers then little would change. It isn't like losing a leader, defensive anchor or playmaker per say. This team losing Mo is very much like losing Foye. I don't see much pressure to make a change.

You've got the wrong Toronto PG on the trading block.

What would you all say to Big Al/Raja/Watson to Orlando for Jameer/Hedo?

Orlando unloads Hedo's contract and receives a legit pow post scorer in Big Al, and if Big Al doesn't work out then they have just moved 20 million to work with in free agency. The Jazz clear room for the bigs and land a team leader/hard-nosed PG. Hedo is a wash. Might be nice off the bench, but he equates to little more than a contract dump for Orlando.

I'd rather just keep Al. That deal stinks.

could probably buy on the cheap and re-acquire Maynor for next to nothing and hope he rebounds

I want to like Jennings - I really do. He puts up stats, but I don't believe he's the kind of player that makes a team better. Similar to Al Jefferson in a lot of ways, really. I've read the sentiment over on your board and I don't see why we'd want to pick up a player that most of the Buck's fanbase is disgruntled with. This whole "maybe a new scenario will make _______ a better player" rarely has any substance to it.
