Rajon Rondo?

With Rondo now out for the season, and Boston looking at pursuing Lowry, would you all trade for Rondo?
Something like this might work...
Utah out- Big Al, Mo, Raja, GSW pick.
Utah in- Rondo(out for season), Jeff Green
Celtics out- Rondo, Jeff Green
Celtics in- Big Al, Lowry
Toronto out- Lowry, Bargs
Toronto in- Pau
Lakers out- Pau
Lakers in- Bargs, Mo, Raja, GSW pick.
Utah gets the best player in the deal, but he is out for the year and possibly part of next year. The Jazz also take on the contract of Jeff Green's, which has been disappointing in Boston but still has a strong chance to succeed in replacing Millsap.
Celtics get rid of Green's contract and land a young PG to replace Rondo.
Toronto gets Pau, whom they have long coveted, while also unloading Bargs contract.
Lakers move Pau and his contract for a stretch big to play in D'Antoni's system, a backup PG who is worlds better then the backups they currently have, even if he doesn't play for another month. Raja is just a throw-in, and GSW pick most likely won't be great.
I agree the Lakers probably get the raw deal here. May have to add another pick going their way or a young player like Terrence Ross. And I also understand the odds of the Lakers and Celtics being involved in the same deal are slim, even though they are not actually "dealing" with each other.

boston values rondo too highly for us to acquire him without including one of our core 4.

I am fearful of what Rondo will be like after his knee surgery.
What about Rodney Stuckey from the Pistons. He could easily run the point. Plus, he has never really been given a team to run. I think he is just what the Jazz need, and he can deliver the big shot when needed. His contract isnt bad either (8.5 per year through 2014)

I have tried multiple trades for Rondo and Boston fans seem to want the moon for an injured guy. I tried to mimick an OKC/HOU Harden trade and they did not think it was good enough.

I wanted Rondo before the injury but not now until I see him play effectively post injury recovery.

The size and length of Jeff Green's contract and the unkown of Rondo's return to form (maybe he never returns to form, maybe he is back at form for only his final year of contract- ACL injuries usually require 1 yr off and another to get back to form, if ever) make me say no.
If I were the JAzz, I would pursue Lowry amongst these players instead (do deal with Lakers and Raptors), try him out for the remainder of this season and until his contract next year becomes guaranteed, at which point the Jazz could let him go if he isn't working out.

Jazz say no because A) Makes us alot worse this season and the FO wanna win as much as possible B) Green's contract is a cap killer and he will never live up to even half that value C) Way too risky and the Jazz don't do risky
The celtics would be serious tho with big al and would probley murder miami down low. With that said, I think the Celtics would be greedy and ask for all the chickens in the barn. Rondo's a perennial allstar true pg ... injured or not he's gonna be very expensive.

If I were the GM it would come down to whether I thought he would be a good leader for this young Jazz team. If I had any reservation at all about his attitude or leadership skills I wouldn't make the trade, even if I knew he'd return to 100% within a year.

I personally think we should keep Millsap and Jefferson. Adding Rondo would be so awesome, but Rondo is out, and we need someone now. I personally think Mo + Tinsley is cool, but not division leader good enough.
We really need a backcourt that matches are extremely awesome bigmen. Tinsley is awesome, but we need to compete against Westbrook, Lillard, Rubio, and Lawson on a weekly basis, not to mention Lin, Nash, CP3, Conely and Curry. Then there is Dragic, Brooks, Vasquez, and Collison, they are not half bad. We rank down with them, when your talking Tinsley/Watson. Mo is still in that second group.
*My proposal. Jazz trade Bell/Marvin/Watson and our Top 1st round pick(s), for an earlier Draft Pick. Like find a team in the top 5-10, who will take someone like Bell/Marvin, and change our picks, like their #6 for our current #17....That way we can get Carter-Williams.
At our current non-lottery position(and GS not in Lottery), were still looking at getting McCollum, Burke, Goodwin, or KaBongo. I think they would make potential young PG's, without having to trade anyone. I just don't think Jazz can get Carter-Williams, Goodwin or McCollum, not unless they get a higher pick. #17 will likely not get you any of them, maybe Burke and KaBongo. Still our two 1st round picks are still good enough to get some nice new players. Paying out the gizzard for a guy like Rondo who is over valued, is dumb. I rather get a new guy in the draft. If Rondo was not broken, and we traded now, then yea thats cool, but not for "future". Draft picks, make better future options.

First of all either al or paul is going to be gone at the end of the season no matter what so why are you saying we shoud keep them? and what other point guard do you know of that gets triple doubles regularly? do you even watch him play? his court vision and passing is incredible. As long as we dont trade any of our young guys Im all for getting him.

And I also don't see why any team would trade down in the draft just to add bad contracts to their payroll. Would you trade a #6 pick for an additional $20 million in trash salary over the next two years? Usually salary dumps go the other way. Also, isn't Carter-Williams the dude that got busted for stealing gloves and a bathrobe?

This could be a golden opportunity here. If we flip Jefferson and Mo for Rondo and filler, that would allow us to get Rajon at a discount and clear out room in our frontcourt at the same time. You don't get Rondo for that kind of package normally, but with the injury and the short term considerations, it would probably be worth it for the C's.
I see the issues with him as a leader and his attitude maybe not being ideal, but this is a chance to get a PG that could run our system perfectly and make the rest of the pieces jive like they need to.
