This tweet / Facebook update just came across my time line:

RT@davidjsmith1232: Chad Ford mentions Utah being a potential for Evan Turner, as Jazz "are searching for a young guard who can handle the ball."

What do you all think of Evan turner? What would you give up for him? Do you think the Jazz can keep him long term?

He seems like a guy the Jazz would definitely go for. He has shooting concerns sometimes and doesn't get to the line a lot, both of which he would need to make the jump from good to really good or great. He's solid, but not quite as good as he was projected to be.

Then there's the question of what happens with Burks.

I would love Evan Turner.

I'm not sure if he exactly fits the role that the jazz need longterm (a young/talented point-guard) but If that Jazz have the chance to get him, I think they should pull the trigger and be willing to give up anyone as long as its not from our young core (Hayward, Kanter, or Favors). I would like to keeps Burks as well and see how he develops but if he was a must have in the trade I would let him go.

Like you said turner is a scorer, and a great ball handler which is a combination that I think that jazz really need especially if they dump Jefferson. I just really like his game. Maybe he wont mesh well with the jazz but I think he is an exciting young player that has a lot of potential. Imagine Turner, Hayward, Favors, Kanter, Burks, etc. - That would be freaking awesome.

Over all I say if they can get it done, I would Love it.

This is definitely the best trade scenario i've heard yet. The only one I might like better is if the Jazz could somehow acquire Kawhi from the spurs.

Surely a lineup of PG Burks, 2Turner, 3 Hayward would have no trouble playmaking?????

To bad they wouldn't take Marvin for him....I mean Marvin is the only person I would trade for him....

Keep in mind Evan is averaging 13 pts in like 36 mpg. That's not so hot. He'll have games shooting 1-14 or 2-9, CJ style.

That said, I would definitely offer more than Marvin for him. I'd be willing to part with anyone other than Burks, Hayward, Favors and Big Turk. If it were Millsap or Jefferson I'd want a little more in return, and obviously more would be needed to make salaries match.

I see Jazz with so many options, that no matter what were likely to come out ahead, even though Millsap and Jefferson's performances are just becoming unworldly(if they would have played like this all year, they would both be All-Stars).

Millsap is doing us great things. Even though he is tearing it up, he is becoming more valuable in the eyes of the teams he beats. It will be hard to let him go, but I see good fortunes when he leaves, with young Favors stepping up, and getting new PF's in the draft or by trade.

I personally want a floor general like CP3. He is smart and can score. I dont want a westbrook who shoots more than our Durant. Parker is another, he makes a lot of points, but this helps becasue you can never leave him open, and it opens up easy shots like the game winner versus the Cavs(even though he hella traveled).


Turner is good, but Holiday is great. I wouldn't see a deal on Turner. I bet the reason there is no deals by now, casue Jazz aren't excepting anything, and probably when they get something good, the other team wants one of our core 4, or Carroll.

The problem with Evan Turner which I noted when discussing Eric Gordon... is shooting. Gordon (albeit when healthy) can provide that shooting punch that you don't see with Turner.

Don't get me wrong Turner would be another solid roleplayer to add to the Jazz... but then you better have a PG that and possibly a stretch 4 that can drill them.

I suspect the asking price would be Kanter not Marvin.

sometimes i get mad when i remember kawhi was taken 15th in that draft by SAS, and we took burks at 12. i like how burks is improving, but the jazz are mich better team if we have kawhi.

Im pretty sure jazz brass wouldnt get rid of kanter for turner. i would agree too, kanter has too much upside to to let go of. they might take a swap of someone like burks and picks, or marvin and another piece. but i dont see the jazz trading for marvin just to trade him again. I know he has been a big disappointment offensively this year, but he is rebounding well and playing very solid defense. KOC and jazz brass seem to be very high on him. all the radio interviews ive listened to say that they are very pleased with his defense.

I definitely hear ya, but you have to consider the possibility that in that scenario Burks might be getting solid rotation minutes and doing great things by know, while Kawhi might still be stuck behind Hayward, Williams and the others.
