Would the Jazz fans (you guys) be interested in swapping Hayward for Vasquez from NOH?? We get the PGOTF at the cost of Hayward. Burks seems like he is coming into his own and could take over, what do you guys think?

I know this sounds like blasphemy but we wont be able to retain Kanter/Burks/Hayward/Favors come time for signing extensions.

i'd love vasquez, but not at the cost of the younger hayward. there is a draft coming. if we don't trade for a PG - and at this point i hope we don't, given what is out there that we can realistically get - we can get a PG there.
and just like we'll need to extend hayward, vasquez is going to need to get extended as well, so you might as well keep the younger hayward and get a PG on a rookie contract. what makes you think we won't be able to retain Kanter/Burks/Hayward/Favors when the time comes for signing extensions, but that we will be able to keep Kanter/Burks/Vasquez/Favors when they'll need to get extended?
furthermore, one of the main reasons the jazz FO lined up our roster in a way that everyone will expire EXCEPT the core 4 is just so the jazz WILL BE ABLE to keep the core 4 past their rookie deals.

I suspect when it comes time to lock those four up long-term (and they are reasonably close to their potential) they will have a price tag of around $45-$50 mil/year. High, but not insurmountable. If you figure there are 4 end-of-bench rookie and vet minimum guys at $5-7 million/year then that means we'd have around $10-$20 mil/year for the PGotF and 3 or so rotation guys without going over the luxury tax. As long as the Jazz draft well they should be able to maintain a solid bench while still being financially sound.

I was thinking about this the other day, and I actually think we'll be able to afford all 4. But little else. So while we should keep an eye open for packaging one or more for that centerpiece, we don't need to firesale for vasquez or whatever else comes along.
This is the lone benefit of limiting their minutes, is none are max players at this point. Favors might be, Kanter will be close, but Hayward and Burks shouldn't break the bank.

Of course not...
Vasques Is definitely not worth Hayward.
Also I don't really see Vasquez as the ideal "point guard of the future."

Vasquez is pretty damn good, but I'd keep Hayward over him.
