Quick question jazz nation ?
With the amount of contracts coming off our books at season end.. what are your thoughts of signing Korver and Ak-47 back via free agents..
Give me a minute here to explain

Assuming M Williams picks up his option and keeping him which i think we should. Yes struggle offensive end but defense is good. If we signed AK-47 ( who loved Utah) and start him and have MW come off the bench or even to replace Favors .. 6.9 he is.. Mighty good wing spot back up PF there

Korver.. First up Foye needs to re-signed and Burks i think makes good point guard decisions so far. Why not sign Korver who loves Utah to help the second unit on the floor. He is not a bad defender.

So side would be

PG Mo will, Burks , PG in draft
SG Foye, Korver & Hayward
SF Hayward , M Williams, Carroll
PF Favors , AK-47 (his natural position ), M Williams , Evans
C Jefferson (re-sign) Kanter

Out: Milsap , Watson , Bell, Tinsley

good offensive team and not bad defensive team with AK & korver back

Why would we want to go back to a previously failed team? We are moving forward rather than in reverse.

there is no point in bringing AK back, unless you want another expiring contract next year to reach the salary floor and preserve cap flexibility for the 2015-2016 season. AK will cause an unnecessary logjam at SF: AK+marvin+hayward+carroll (if he's back) and maybe a few minutes of burks, and perhaps a draft pick. that's too many players on that position.

we all like to see AK play PF but that ship have sailed - he's not even playing that in Minnesota anymore, so that's unlikely to happen. also, he's losing games to injury every season. move him to the PF spot and he'll lose even more.

as for korver - i wouldn't mind having him back, but he'll have to sign on a reasonable deal. he left the jazz because they weren't willing to pay him 5M per year like he got from the bulls. if he's willing to sign for less, we should take a hard look at him, and sign the cheapest of him and foye.

No on Korver--Foye is a good shooter and a better defender than Korver. No on AK--he has a $10.2 mill player option for next year in Minnesota and I'm thinking they regret giving him that about now.

When they re-sign Foye, Mo and Jefferson this offseason you'll have a tough time convincing me we're moving forward.

I think Jazz and Hawks have both proved that having a "streak" shooter doesn't win you a championship, let alone home advantage.

Ak is cool and all, but I rather stick to younger guys who can fill in our pieces.

I think the best kind of teams for the Jazz are something like Memphis.

Be more defense focus, cause we do just fine making points, we just have the problem of allowing other teams to get whatever they want, and part of that is having guys like Foye who mainly do one thing on one side of the court. Which is probably the only reason Marv still has starter job cause he has decent defense(in comparison to rest of starters, Millsap being the only other one).

same here, i couldn't believe what im reading, not like KK is good def but Foye is epically bad, he is worst than even Nash is.

And when it comes to the question im all for it, they are both great and would made this team significant better, KK>>>Foye and AK > Sap( ok here i should put =, but if Sap would want more $ than AK is better solution).

I just think we got better options in Favors, and using our draft pick to fill in bench position.

Even if you put AK in the SF we have Hayward an Carroll, so I don't see the need.

If AK was the same Ak from early 00's, and uninjured maybe, but his elder self for more money is why we didn't keep him.

I wouldn't mind having Korver back at the right price... the sucky part would be Ty Corbin starting Korver over one of the younger players just like Marvin starting every game.. but least Korver wanted to be here and they guy CAN shoot.

AK is a good player as well and for cheap I'm ok with it but I think that ship has sailed...

I just hope we can find a good PG this off season.. Watson was 0-2 last night with 5 assists.

I love AK, but he is a bit expensive and still has his injury issues. It's hard for me to say too, because he's one of my favorite players of all time.

Korver would be nice. He could start at SF along with Burks, with Caroll and Hayward coming off the bench.

I would like a SG/SF rotation like this:
Hayward = 32mpg
Burks = 26mpg
Korver = 20mpg
Carroll = 20mpg

Ofcourse there is Foye, but he will be a free agent this summer. Burks can also get time at PG, which he's been even doing a lot lately as a closer. Mo Williams is a free agent this summer too, so we needed a PG, but now we desperately need help at PG. Wish we could make a move at Rondo. For all his shortcomings, he's one of the best PG's, especially in the playoffs.

I'm not saying Foye is a "good" defender either. But the knock on Korver has always been that he is a defensive liability. Korver costs twice as much as Foye does too ($5mill vs. $2.5mill). Besides, wouldn't bringing back these old vets to steal playing time from the young players that everyone demands see the floor to develop? I'd rather see the team focus on the priorities that Randy Rigby mentioned this week in his weekly interview:
- improve defense
- solidify the PG spot for the future
Trying to relive the good ol' days with AK and Korver (and Uncle Rico?) don't really do either. If you were going to use either Foye or Korver as a situational player maybe there is a circumstance one might work (my assumption is Foye is here and cheaper so what would Korver do better?) but I don't see either being much of a focus going forward.

Mrs. Hoops4life would be pretty happy with Korver coming back.

The common complain when AK was here was that he need time at the 4. He is not going to get that with how the team is setup to move forward so I am a no on him. Plus his wife skipped out on the rent for her shop so they are never coming back.

Korver is a no for me as well. Plenty of played can fill his role at a cheaper price. The Jazz need a go to guy and that is not going to happen for a while.

that doesn't make any sense. are you suggesting the t-wolves would be willing to trade AK to the jazz for marvin, and ALSO give the jazz cash and draft considerations? they are both on expiring deals next year - why would the t-wolves do that?

I thought about it, and Korver isn't a bad 3pt maker he is actually good and popular(he just hasn't broken any records in Utah, but then again he didn't start),


Although imagine having Foye and Korver....have them rotate at SG, meaning we would always have a 3pt streak shooter, having two top 10 3pt shooters, we would be better than GSW(oh wait we are).

I think our great defense on bench wouldn't mind replacing Watson with Korver with the other 4:

Burks - Korver - Hayward - Favors - Kanter

That way we keep a lame PG off the floor who doesn't do anything, and have an awesome shooter instead.

AK47 is completely out of question, while Korver I am completely open to the idea, whether he starts or benches.
