according to hoops hype, his PO is 7.5 mil next year. does he stick around for sure money next year or try to hit the open market and see what he's worth?

seems like a legitimately good guy, just a bad fit here. hope he opts out.

Should bench him for the rest of the season, send him a message that its in his best interest to get the hell out

He simply played better last year and like Devin Harris he doesn't want to be here. Give up 7.5 mill where the best deal he could get is a one year 3 mil deal ...he has to stay!

We should not get our hopes up. At all. No way he makes more than that somewhere else.

And Toledo, what makes you think he doesn't want to be here? I think his demeanor in general is one where he's generally content with where he's at and that's probably mistaken for apathy. I think it may be why he's not the player he could be. Just content to be making lots of money as a mediocre player in the NBA. That's why I think he doesn't go anywhere.

Honestly if he was only making $3 million a year I'd really like him. He's an extremely consistent defender, it's just so frustrating because he has the talent to be on the same level as a guy like Danny Granger but he just doesn't have that killer instinct.

I think he could become a better player in a Kanter system with Favors as PF/C. Cause if both play a Center type positio, that leaves Marvin plenty of space to shoot.

He has had great nights, but they come like once a week. The worst thing I complain about is his consistancy, being able to bring the same level everynight, whether you score 1 point or 15.

Honestly have no interest in how much you guys hate the guy or what you think of him as a player. basically just wanted to see what everyone thinks the chances of him either staying or going...

I can't imagine he would get $7.5 mill elsewhere for next season so I'd be surprised if he opts out.

I should add that as an expiring contract he may draw some attention in trade if the Jazz are after some longer-term contract that another team is looking to dump.

Marvin will be in a Jazz uni filling a very deep bench spot @7+million$ :nonono: ... of course, unless Corbin is the coach again :banghead:

The flip side is if he has another year like this year and continues to play fewer and fewer minutes that will hurt his next contract. His agent might try to secure him a longer term contract this off-season at a lower dollar amount.

With that said, I'm guessing he picks up his option.

Marvin will be back but that might not be the worst news in this CBA climate. He'll be expiring and that makes him an asset. It could be possible to pair him with a young prospect for a star or something. Either way you got to hit the 90% salary floor anyways.

The Jazz HAVE to meet the league minimum in salary anyway. Marvin at 1 year and 7 million might be better than some other scrub at 3.5 million over 2 years.

Obviously Marvin takes the player option, but he is an expiring next year.

There's no chance that Marvin isn't back with the Jazz next season......
