I have lost confidence in this organization
everything about it. they say we are about winning, even if it means only 40 win seasons, consecutive 1st round picks in the teens, and never even a threat to the top teams in the league. but at least we can shoot for 2 extra games at home!
i was even excited when the jazz purchased their new radio station so i could listen to their games on fm. but their personalities are so jaded by their paychecks and awesome studios that legit criticism is hard to find. in the beginning, i found the new folks on 1320 kinda pessimistic and not very knowledgeable. but they are sticking to their guns, and now the 1280 folks are the ones doing the backpedaling and spinning.
i won't buy tickets to the games. i very rarely can. but at least i know it is not something i need to save up for anymore. i am even (strongly) considering cancelling my cable service. the only reason i have kept it so long is so i can watch the games when i get a chance. i can get just as much info from twitter and the box scores and the blogs as i can from watching the games. cuz i am definitely not watching for the entertainment value. there are other teams who are more entertaining than this one.
listening to the folks from the organization is like eating cotton candy icecream topped with sprinkles and whipped cream. they only worry about themselves. actually caring about the fans, media, and the state of basketball in this area comes, well, not second, not last, but rather not at all. the ute basketball team won a title in the 40's. the stars won one in the 70's. there is an accessible basketball court within walking distance to nearly every person along the wasatch front. basketball is in our blood. criticizing our intelligence and spoon feeding us frozen liquid crap is insulting.
hearing from folks and their confidence in the jazz in obtaining a good pick for next year, and still keeping our core 4 and maintaining a winning tradition just makes me shake my head. the jazz are not a model organization anymore. sure it is just a losing streak, trend, slump whatever. but we knew what we had when we started and we knew what needed to get done. none of it has happened, and the stories have changed. and the stories will continue to change to make sure tickets, jerseys, and jackets, continue to sell. the bottom line is not the W's, but rather the $'s.
are we the new clippers? or basketball's cubs-just wait till you see what we have for you next year!-?

Re: I have lost confidence in this organization
really good rant\post = rost?
we little people don't matter. but a post like this sent to the team in some fashion could make them nervous at least, since i think it represents quite a lot of people at the moment. posts like this will make randy rigby sweat. and then go on the radio and say everything is hunky dory.
as for confidence is getting a good pick next year - i don't think it's confidence, or that the jazz will get a really good pick. it's just that next year's draft is really loaded, so even a low lottery pick could hold some value. what else is there to hope for?
btw, i never knew there is such a thing as cotton candy ice cream. sounds really bad for you, and really awesome.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

Re: I have lost confidence in this organization
I thought about making my own rant, but were just talking about all the same things over and over....
I didn't want to bother being mad, thats only for band wagoners who want wins now. I want Jazz to reclaim former glory.....which I know Corbin will have nothing to do with. I have been really frustrated but I got past that about 2 weeks ago...What matters is what our young guys are doing, which was amazing even facing death in the face...
During the game tonight when they had coach conversations in huddle...was it just me or was Corbin barking a bunch of crap that no one even understands, OKC's coach told them a bunch of great advice and what to do?? It almost seems like Corbin has no idea how to communicate who crazy ideas, and he has a terrible assistant who wasn't even fit for coach neither...I think his terrible communication and his lack of any coaching skills inhibits him from doing what OKC's coach has done...

Re: I have lost confidence in this organization
I never felt like Jerry Sloan should be fired. But Corbin needs to go. If this team really wants me to believe they are about winning, do it.
Do it now if you really want fans to believe. Other teams coaches would be fired at this point. Hell NJ coach got fired after 2 months of coach of the month.
At least do it this summer.
AND FOR ___ sakes, dont promote a back up coach.
I dont want to see horny, or any other cut rate coach.

LeBron, Kobe, kd, tim Duncan...only guys in the league that have or will have multiple rings over the next 7-8 year's. Get one of those players and things change for you. Otherwise count yourself lucky that you have a smart well run franchise. The alternative could be facing what Sacramento is facing. If you can't understand that find another sport because that is the truth of the NBA.

No one is demanding multiple championships. We just want a real contender, Indiana, Grizzlies, early 00's pistons, etc. We just want a legitimate shot at a ring, not a guaranteed first or second round exit.

That's loser talk. I think most people here are capable of appreciating we have decent team while also holding the owners accountable for more than "not sacramento."

I'd like to see your support of this, some kind of transcript from the huddles.

it was in the "wired" bit that we sometimes get in broadcasts. i saw that too. corbin was fine. sounded like any other coach. no reason to bash him for that.

Wow. Some of you guys are sure quick to jump ship. This team is rebuilding. Problem is they overachieved last year so some folks think they should be better this year. REBUILD

Re: I have lost confidence in this organization
Rebuild? Really? Looks to me like they are trying to ride the mediocrity train all the way to another first round spanking, just to be able to say they made the playoffs.
If they were seriously trying to rebuild one of Big Al or Milsap would already be gone, or at least riding the pine while the young studs get a chance to prove what they can do.
This off season will be the biggest for me as a fan, It is put up or shut up time. Show me that you really are about more than a first round asswhoopin. Show me that you really do want to maybe just maybe have a chance at winning it all.
If they show that they are content to be a so so 8th seed then I'm done. All I want to see is a commitment to try and be a championship contender. I never doubted that with Larry and Jerry, not so sure about things with Greg and Ty.

Thats the problem with all these fans willing to jump ship and losing faith. The only teams that are in contention right now, are okc, san antonio and miami. Championships come from teams with the best players. The early 00's pistons were a semi exception, but they still had some serious talent on those teams.
The jazz arent riding mediocrity and trying to steal the little guys dollar. they are the little guy. The jazz way over achieved last year, not too mention the western conference got even more competitive this last offseason. The jazz are in a rebuild mode while still competing for a playoff spot. Not many franchises can say those two things in the same sentence, so relax. Its the nba, only 2-3 teams have a real shot every year, and in the last decade how many teams have won a ring? LA, boston, San antonio, dallas, miami, and thats really about it. there are 30 teams. do the math.

totally agreed. plus the rebuild has been ongoing the last two seasons, and that includes a trip to the playoffs. most teams the term rebuilding "means a 25 win season. so lets all just calm the hell down.

There you go again, bringing up the trade bs. "BUT WE COULDA TRADED FOR BLEDSOE!!!!" no, we actually coudnt. if there was a good deal to make, it would have been made. Dennis linsdy has an enormous track record of success, and KOC is one of the most respected GM's in recent nba history. you really think he just didnt try hard enough? you really think they just mailed it in? If a good deal that benefit the organization came along, they would have made it.
Now if you paid attention, did some research and listened to the interviews of Dennis and KOC after the deadline they explained themselves. The long term plan for the franchise is to utilize as much cap space as possible to compete with the new CBA. The new CBA if used properly can be a huge asset to the franchise, and most the deals that were proposed to the jazz for al or paul were going to require the jazz take on some form of a long term deal for a player the jazz had no interest in. Trading for the sake of making a trade is not going to benefit the franchise. Sorry if it makes some of you cancel your cable, or stop listening, or go root for the lakers or whatever. The jazz orginization is not concerned with your short term displeasure. They are concerned in whats best for the franchise.
I have my criticisms and frustrations as a fan too, but im sure as **** not going to "lose faith" or quit on my team. shame one you if thats how you feel. I heard the Heat are pretty good, they could always use some more bandwagon fans.

Oh stop it, I have probably been following this team longer than you have been alive. I have lived and died with them since they moved to Utard.
Being upset with the philosophy, direction, approach this team is taking has nothing to do with how loyal a fan you are, so you can take the heat comment and have it for lunch.
This team has proven over a couple decades that it IS the model of mediocrity. I WANT MORE THAN THAT!
I want to know that the front office isn't just settling for mediocrity, The proof is in the pudding, we are once again right smack in the middle of mediocrity.
Look what one really bad season did for the spurs. 14 straight seasons of 50+ wins and 4 titles.
If this team was really looking to be a championship contender, and that is the number one priority, we would have seen movement with a couple players ( Ya I get your argument about the right deal not being there) OR the young guys would be playing and growing together while the search for the missing piece/ pieces continues. What is the point of riding the black hole to another first round whoopin? Why? It really is simple Being a championship contender isn't the top priority.
I don't give one hoot who has won what in the past 30 years, that is water under the bridge. I don't really even care if they never win a title in my lifetime as long as they are trying to do so.
being pretty good, and just making the playoffs and hoping that maybe lady luck will give us a big fat kiss and we can make a serious run is a load of crap. I could easily live with a 10-25 win season if that is what it takes to get to the top. For this team to get there they are going to have to find THE guy in the draft. Drafting outside the lotto every year because your just pretty good is a lot like running on a tread mill, Run like hell and don't get anywhere. They gotta sit these mediocre vets and run with the young guys, they gotta take a risk, be bold, make stuff happen.
As a fan I respect that, and it makes things a lot more interesting, Makes it more fun to talk about.
This team right now and the last few years is boring, and mediocre, Lord knows I have spent enough $$$ and time on this team to have the right to call a spade a spade.
