I don't know why, but I think we are going to lose, and Lakers too.

Will Memphis have anything to play for? It seems like Clips have the 4 seed locked out, thus eliminating Grizzlies chance to attain higher seed/ HCA in the first round.

Houston on the other hand...They are in danger of losing the 7th seed to LAL. I hope they play all there guys tomorrow.

FWIW, no memphis starter played over 24 minutes last night...

They can tie Denver.... but Denver won the series vs them...
Vs Clippers they have right now HCA, and they need to win to have HCA in first round... so they need to win.

Memphis in fact don't have a lot of options.

Clippers has to play at home vs Blazers (who are tanking badly) and then @ Sac, who are a terrible team. So I don't think they believe they can get HCA.

Plus, they know they are going to play playoff in any way, so maybe their starters won't play a lot. Still, they are a deep team.

Memphis is actually 1/2 game ahead of Clippers now, but still shown as 5th seed. Does Memphis have anything to play for?

yes.

LAC will get home court advantage because they are Division winner. Denver already locked up 1st round home court. Hence, Memphis is locked into 5th seed. The record is only good for fighting HCA between the best non-Division winner and Division winners... and that is Denver.

actually, even though the clippers may have locked the 4th seed due to their divison title, if the 5th seeded team have a better overall W-L record, the 5th seed is the one who will have home court advantage in a 5th-4th playoff series.

therefore, even if memphis won't end up 3rd instead of the nuggets, a memphis win vs utah and one clippers loss will give them home court advantage against the 4th seeded clippers.

try to remember back to the 2006-2007 season. the jazz was 1st in their division and 4th overall, but the 5th seeded rockets got the home court advantage because they had the better overall record (by one game).

have a look:

Looks like most of you have no clue what the situation is or how the tiebreaker rules work, so let me clear it up.

Memphis is still playing for something - a win coupled with an LAC loss would give them HCA in the first round.

Houston also has something to play for against the Lakers - a loss puts them in 8th and pits them against OKC instead of the banged up Spurs.

Los Angeles Clippers get home court advantage with tie. Memphis Grizzles needs win to secure home court. Los Angeles Clippers need win, and Memphis Grizzles need loss, for Los Angeles Clippers to secure Home Court Advantage.

Houston Rockets need win and Golden State Warriors need a loss, for Houston Rockets to get 6th. Houston Rockets own tie breaker, Houston Rockets must win Los Angeles Lakers. San Antonio Spurs on skid, rather face Spurs, than Denver Nuggets, prepare for choke, non-sequitur.

Utah Jazz needs win, and Los Angeles Lakers need a loss, in that case, Jazz would get tie-breaker, erm, woo, Jazz would face, Oklahoma City Thunder. San Antonio Spurs to far, to catch up, to Oklahoma City Thunder. Compute.

Ryan, we learned this from Inigo and another poster back on page one. Compute.
I have no problem with the amount of activity you contribute to this forum, and appreciate you keeping things alive around here, but seriously bud, these aren't even sentences. You are just repeating what was already said.

For everyone else: as far as some crazy theory that we are owed this bc of karma - I think that theory was shot to ship when the usually cold-blooded killer Spurs laid an egg vs. the Lakers. That kind of stuff never happens to them!! They lose games, but they always play at a high level. That was just pathetic. So I think the "karma gods" have switched sides again. Kobe was the only sacrifice they demanded, haha.
