Marcin Gortat and Goran Dragic for Enes Kanter and Marvin Williams?

The Jazz get their new PG of the future and a top big man in Marcin Gortat for Enes Kanter + the Suns take Marvin Williams horrible contract. Would you take that offer?

No. no way.

1. marvin still needs to opt in. if he does, he'll become an expiring contract. trading him doesn't "liberate" the jazz from a horrible contract. the jazz will actually have to work hard to reach the salary floor next season. and 7.5M isn't all that bad. at that point, his expiring contact is an asset.

2. what good will it do to get out of marvin's "horrible" expiring contract, if we take back two similarly large contracts with MORE years on them (gortat is expiring, dragic signed for 3 more years)?

3. gortat and dragic are ok players. not reason to give away a very promising kanter for them. if he'll get gortat-like minutes (30.8mpg), he'll post better numbers. and he's way cheaper still.

4. while dragic is an ok player, if he was a PGOTF material, why would the suns give him away? the reason is, that you probably realize he is not a PGOTF material. he is an ok starter that won't blow you away in any way. he is "meh"+ type of player who's real value is as a 6th man.

5. i wouldn't call gortat a top big man. i mean, if you have a PGOTF material player in dragic (that you are willing to give away for some reason. i wonder why...) and a top big man in gortat, you'd be a much better team than you were this year.

6. a serious question: is the fact you are willing to move dragic means your team is looking for a PG in the draft, like burke? what is your opinion on kandall marshall? is he a factor in all of this?

I seriously dont want Gortat for free bc he makes too much money. Dragic helps but is really a back up PG making starting PG money. So not close!

i think gortat's contract is quite reasonable. 7.7M for a decent two-way starting caliber center is a good price all things considered. he's also expiring next season, so i wouldn't stress over his contract too much.

I like both players (Dragic very much), but wouldn't give up Kanter to obtain them by any means.

No way , no way , no way.

Not a chance.

We are not trading Kanter or Favors.

... at least not for those guys. I mean, there are plenty of players I would trade either or both of those guys for.

How do the Suns get #14 without giving up Dragic or #5? Dudley, Gortat, Scola, #30 or any other combination is available and we could take back Marv...

You are a troll clearly.

And ot the OP Phoenix would not trade Gortat and Dragic for Kanter.

Gortat and Dudley are certainly not available for #14.

Clearly Jared Dudley is untouchable.

How do the Jazz get the #5 pick without giving up any combination of #14, Favors, Kanter, Hawyard, Burke, and/or #21?

Gortat's almost 30 and dragic is getting up their in age as well. I'd rather keep Kanter who looks promising. Throw in #5 and you might have a deal, I'd then draft Len, trade dragic and gortat for picks. Again, suns wouldn't do that either, no deal will be reached both sides say no.

One thing I keep hearing about this draft is how there's not a big difference in talent from the top through the middle. Yet it's important to remember that higher draft picks make significantly more money than lower ones. I wouldn't underestimate the effect that might have on some teams. For example, if you're Cleveland, do you really want to commit $16.7 over 3 years to a raw big man with an injury history? Or would you rather trade down to the 5th pick and commit to less than $10M over 3 years for a guy like Porter or Oladipo?

Normally I think the rookie pay scale is a non-factor but I think it's going to play a role this year. I'm not suggesting the Phoenix is desperate to trade out of #5 to save money, but I think the money savings could factor in to some draft-day deals.

It is PHX. It seems like they are always desperate to save money in the draft.

If TruthTelling's mother needed a kidney and Jared Dudley was the only matching donor, he'd tell Jared not to do it because he's too important.

+1. agree with everything. also, the suns have a history of selling their picks. and they were good picks too.

as for the trade - the suns have no assets that makes it worth it for the jazz to give away kanter. this draft sucks, and as StocktonShorts pointed out, there is no big difference in talent from the top through the middle. i don't see why we should give away kanter for anyone in this draft. i also don't see why we would give him up just to get len, after investing two years of development in kanter. now that he's going to yield results and possibly blow up, we'd give him away, just to start from scratch and develop a raw 19 year old with a lower ceiling?
