There's a buzz starting to build here. The guy is crazy gifted physically. 6'9" with a 7'3" wingspan. Can handle, pass, great versatility on both sides of the ball....not a particularly good shooter as of yet although he does well from the stripe. Raw, young unknown prospect with a ton of upside. Super long arms and defensive instincts allow him to make plays in passing lanes, block shots and create general havoc on defense.

Sounding familiar?

He's basically the same prospect AK was in 1999 when we drafted him. He didn't come over for 3 years, but that's who he was when we took him late in the 1st round. In today's world, though, that doesn't happen. Giannis is starting to build some buzz and there's almost no way he's available at 21 now. If we want him, we'll have to take him at 14. If Burke, McCollum or MCW aren't there and there isn't another top prospect who falls unexpectedly down the board (someone like McLemore, Bennett, or Porter), I am willing to take a swing. I think 14 might be high for a guy like Larkin or Schroeder, and I really think we should use that particular pick to swing for the fences. G.A. looks like he has the potential to be the best player out of this draft in 4-5 years. If he is the second coming of AK47, its definitely worth it. And before anyone beats the 'how can you take a player so raw that high?' drum, keep in mind that if he wasn't that raw and was further along in his development, he'd be a top 5 pick and we wouldn't have a chance at him. Where there is uncertainty there is opportunity.

I'm really starting to warm to him at 14.

I want Giannis, but getting a PG is our priority.

If our PG is not there....and nobody good slips....Muhammed?...and if Dieng is not there.....then I would like Giannis.

We have an obligation to Favors and Kanter to get them a PG so we become a winner.......you know they might want to leave if we do not get better.

Giannis is going to be very good......I would definitely have him stay in Europe for 3 years or enroll at a big US school. I predict he will be a very good defender in the NBA....his mobility and length for his size is impressive.

We need to measure Giannis to see if he is still growing......if he gets 2-3 inches taller he is a sure thing

He get a 9 for size and potential.

Giannis is a huge project. The best place for him is not Europe but the NBDL. This is a good year to pick him up before he has a monster buy-out in Spain. Most years he'd be an early 2nd round pick that teams would be happy to gamble on. This year he is a 1st round pick that deep teams are happy to role the dice on. Considering the Jazz need a big time wing or guard... and next year is a great time to get him... taking Giannis probably isn't out of the question. But the transition for the 2nd league in Greece to just the D-League would be a big leap. And you need to look at Giannis as basically a college freshman that could be 2 or 3 years away from seeing an NBA bench... and if he doesn't develop as some teams project... he never sees and NBA bench. I think it is a shame that such a game goes in the 1st round... but in this draft I can see why he would go.

But to select him over Karasev or Glen Rice Jr I don't think I can support... Karasev is a dead eye and Rice's game was tailor made for the NBA. Giannis is a big project right now...

Well it depends on how you feel about this draft. If you are under the mind set that this draft is weak or even go as far to say there are few potential nba starters on this team then he maybe worth it. If you think this draft is solid or better than its not worth to wait 5 or so year for a guy that mabey the next AK47 who was a tweener and best used as a sixth man on a contending level team.

I'm of the latter and I want Jamaal Franklin at #14 and thats who I think Lindsey will draft if available. All this other nonsense is just smoke screen. Guys like Karasev, Dieng, Canaan, ect ... I would love also (although people might laugh if you take Canaan #14 but who cares, he's worth more than that and they don't know crap).

I like Giannis. His potential is excellent, and he at least looks like his length and quickness will make him a good defensive player. He needs to work on his body, tighten his handle and improve on everything across the board, but he looks like an elite prospect from a talent standpoint. I agree that he won't be able to really develop in Greece, he's just a different and better athlete than everyone he's playing with right now.

The JAzz drafted AK47 when they still had Stockton, Malone, etc. and could wait a couple of years to let him develop before bringing him over. He was also the #24 pick and playing on one of the best teams in Europe. This Giannis guy is barely playing above hs level and I read that he will take at least 3 yrs to develop sufficiently, if ever enough. Big risk in the lottery with a rebuilding team needing players within the next year or two.

Does he include whining crying and mistakingly thinking he's good enough to be THE man or do we need to buy that seperately?

I think that comes after you apply a max contract and get him on a strict daily WOW regimen.
