Sloan resignation The Whole Truth? link

Some previously undisclosed details regarding the circumstances of Sloan's resignation were described by Greg Miller at a press roundtable today. Is this truly the way things went down? If so, perhaps the matter can finally be laid to rest.

The loyalty you see with the Jazz you don't see elsewhere. Taking the coaches side over the star player... bringing the old coach back in the fold in an official capacity. Trading the star player 2 weeks after the coach is already gone mid-season. Keeping Corbin for this upcoming season...

I have to admit part of me sees Corbin coaching out his contract in this tank year and then after the 2014 draft... Miller asking Sloan to come back.

I could definitely see that scenario playing out pickibl, and the Jazz could do much worse-- extending Corbin being the most obvious example.

Sloan's done. I think that should be obvious to anyone. He just doesn't have the energy to travel and coach any more.

I'd be willing to bet that if you gave 68-year old Jerry Sloan a team with the 26-year old Karl Malone he would've quit in much the same fashion he did in 2011.

Bill Oram's writeup: http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/jazz/56511 ... y.html.csp

Jerry said, ‘If you’re going to change the play, it would be nice if you’d let the rest of the team know so we’ve got a chance at scoring,’ or something like that," Miller said. "He kind of reprimanded Deron and Deron said, ‘My bad.’

I agree. 71 years old is pretty dang old to have a full time job with everything that coaching in the NBA entails. The body wears down on all of us. No shame.

He's old for sure... but the more I read into this situation... the more I see ownership asking him back. I have no idea what Sloan would say. Guys out of coaching... retired... do get that itch.

It would be great if Jerry would be supportive coach but for some one who really could be a future of this club on bench

So Deron was a coach killer after all huh? Also, I would have had much more respect for Sloan if he had at least finished out the season...gas or no gas...

I just think both Deron and Sloan are very stubborn and it came to a head. Everyone did what they had to do. It is in the past now, can we leave it there? I have great respect for both DWill and Sloan.
