https://clutchpoints.com/damian-lillard-says-donovan-mitchell-favorite-rookie/

Lillard really does seem like the lone NBA Star that might consider joining the Jazz as FA someday. This isn't the first time he's gone out of his way to say something nice about the the Jazz or one of their players. Too bad he's not a FA until 2021.

Austin Rivers also had good things to say about Mitchell (warning, there are unsensored "MF" drops in the article)

Donovan in the Slam Dunk Contest??? I'd like to see it. It can only help his National Exposure, which would better his ROY chances.

Humble about it too: Mitchell said that while he would “definitely” compete in the Dunk Contest, “I’m not going to win it.”

Ok, one more. This article really encompasses how awesome Mitchell is.

Mitchell hasn’t shot the ball well lately, but I take that as a good and bad sign. Obviously you want him to make more of his jumpers, but he’s scoring nonetheless. He’s become a very good player around the rim, which is surprising considering he was not good around the rim in college.

He also got to the FT 10 times last night. He shot very poorly, but he Harden’d it into 24 points on respectable efficiency. Jumpers will be inconsistent, getting to the basket and FT line is how you find consistency.

I think it is a big injustice to real rookies like DM to give players like Ben Simmons and Blake Griffin mulligans on their NBA rookie seasons for ROY voting. Simmons played in the 2016 Summer League; he played and trained with NBA players for three months up to Sept. 30, 2016, when he broke his foot. He then got an entire season of NBA coaching and watching games from the bench (probably even getting in some practices ) before getting a second summer of playing with pros prior to this season. He isn't a legitimate rookie.

Mitchell's my favorite rookie this season, I put together a mix of all his dunks this year that I would like to share with everyone-

I was thinking the same thing. I was under the impression he had a good relationship with his dad but maybe not.

He never really mentions him present tense in interviews, only his mom and sister.

Hm... I don't now. Maybe he's just closer with his mom and sister.

NBA.com came out with new top five rookie rankings this morning, the "Kia Rookie Ladder", and DM is ranked #1, Ben Simmons #2, Lauri Markannen #3, Dennis Smith #4 and Jayson Tatum #5.
