At the risk of totally jinxing Rubio, after seven regular season games, I am going to say that I am still quite hopeful that we get the Rubio from the second half of last season, or better, when he shot a respectable 41.8% from the field and 35.5% from threes. So far this young season, Rubio is shooting a respectable 43% from the field and 35.1% from threes. I am knocking on wood and keeping my fingers crossed!

I haven't been able to watch the last 3 games.

How have his turnovers been? His fault? It's unusual to see Rubio averageing a whopping 4.4 TOs per game.

I'd say it's a mix of several things: new teammates (Gobert is not Towns), new system and new role (much more aggressive towards the basket). Is not like he's being careless or sloppy, the Jazz just need a different Rubio than what the Wolves needed and he's still adjusting his game, thus the strangely high turnovers figure.

It happened early on with a lot of the massive roster overhauls with the Wolves. It takes time in practice for guys to expect the types of passes Ricky is capable of making, so they have to get used to getting the ball at times they normally wouldn't expect to.

He'll clean it up. Nice thing is, when he has those TOs he tends to make up for it in steals (like last night).

Glad to see Ricky doing well in Utah, Teague is starting to play well in MN, but I'm still pissed about getting nothing for Ricky. He was one of the few bright spots over the last 6 seasons with the Wolves, the way they ended things was disappointing (since Ricky would finally be winning more games than losing with the Butler addition). Glad to see him winning in Utah at least.

Ricky Rubio is a Godsend for the Jazz. His defense is SO GOOD. I knew about his passing but I guess I had not paid enough attention on the other end of the floor.

I love watching this guy! So much energy and hustle!

The knock on Rubio has always been based on his personal ability to put the ball in the hoop. Which to most people = bad at offense, but he basically does everything but put the ball in the hoop at an above average to elite level.

So far, Rubio is putting up 16/7/5 on 43% shooting and 35% from 3-pts. That's about what he was doing after the All Star break last year. I don't see why he can't keep this up. He's still settling in and getting to know the guys he's playing with.

It's weird because Danny Ainge allegedly poo-pooed on Rubio and said it was part of their pitch to Hayward. He said his D was not as good as metrics show and that DL relies too much on analytics for those things. I have no idea what he's seeing. Rubio has been stellar on D. Easily one of the best ... 3 ? 5? defenders at the position. For certain much better than George Hill.

Well what's he gonna say "That was a great addition for the Jazz, you should resign with them"?

Yeah, he is putting those numbers since february but I think he has worked a lot with Raul López this summer and now he is playing some different.

BTW, out of curiosity, does anybody here remember who was Raul López?

That was supposedly said after they had already gotten Hayward. He has no incentive to **** on Rubio in that case just to do it if he doesn't believe it.

Yes, I remember Raul Lopez. He was the guy we drafted ahead of Tony Parker. Parker was drafted at 28; Lopez at 24. Unfortunately, Lopez' brief Jazz career was set back by injuries.

Regarding Ricky's stats, the percentages I posted above, 41.8% from the field and 35.5% from three, were over exactly the second half of last season - 41 games:

He's been shooting a little better of late. I can live with these percentages. He does so much, I'm loving him!

Yeah, he was the best prospect of the Spanish baskbetball even better than Gasol Brothers. I think the Jazz drafted him after Stockton ended his career and had 3 ACL in his knews in a row, one of them before join the Jazz. A pity.

I was talking with some friends talking about he was in the pavillion watching Ricky because he worked with him this summer and if somebody in the Arena could recognize or remember him. He only played one hundred of games with the Jazz more than ten years ago.

EFG% 515 with shot attempts and FTs way up... if this keeps up we are in for a great season.

Rubio has been a GREAT free throw shooter throughout his career. That is a strength of his.

Been since Deron Williams the Jazz have had a consistent difference maker at the PG elite at something. Hill looked great compared to the junk show of the previous years at PG but is having a tough season in Sac and already missing games for the infamous "groin injury". I'll take Ricky over Hill any day - he brings fire even when the ball isn't going in the hoop.

It was AK time. I remember him pretty well. He had some very bright flashes.
