Game 45: New York Knicks (20-25) @ Utah Jazz (18-26)

Post#1 » by Crunch 99 » Fri Jan 19, 2018 3:48 pm

We've got a very late 8:30pm MT tipoff tonight for this game for an ESPN broadcast. The Jazz are coming off a blowout win over the tanking Kings. The Jazz are 3-7 over the last 10 games and 13-8 at home. The Knicks are 3-7 for their last 10 games and 5-16 on the road. Like the Jazz, the Knicks have slipped out of the playoff race to tenth seed, 3 games out versus the Jazz 4.5 games out. The Knicks defeated the Jazz earlier this season in NY, 106-101, despite an efficient 30 points on 20 attempts from Rodney Hood.

The big news is that early this morning Rudy Gobert is listed as GTD at Rotowire's expected lineups and probable on the U of U Health Report.

Curious as it looks like you guys have a 8:30pm start time.. Is that common over there?

I feel the Kings never start games past 7:30pm at the latest. Seemed weird to me

I extremely interested how Gobert return will affect team game. It will tell a lot about state of chemistry of the team. Will be there a boost in fighting spirit or it will sill same relaxed swinging just on a couple of inches higher level?

No,the TV broadcast usually starts at 7pm MT with actual tipoff at 7:10pm. I assumed that the game is starting late because that is when ESPN wanted to broadcast it, but considering that will be a 10:30 pm eastern time tipoff, it doesn't make much sense for Knicks' fans. Heck, even being in Utah, I will probably watch Q4 tomorrow given the late start.

Q rolling out the the Trio of Offensive Death with a Rodney Hood kicker tonight. Because we don't have enough beta on how great that works yet? Giving Jingles a blow? I'll try not to be snarky after this post but it was a long day. If Rudy does something it will be a boon for slumping fans.

I liked the start. Rubio setting up the offense, great opportunties for Rudy, he is naturally rusty. Mitchell with the absolute HIGHLIGHT chasedown block (which still looked like goaltending to me). Lookin good so far. Dunno why Hood was overhelping like that on Jack vs. Rubio though. Completely out of position giving up open corner 3.

So we had Gobert in with no Rubio and no Favors, and our offense still looked like trash because our 3s weren't falling.

It's almost as if spacing isn't the magic potion some fans want to believe.

Synder went away from the offense the game started with. Now its Mitchell vs. the world, or pass around the perimeter for 23 seconds and then take a contested heave. Noone sets a pick and everyone off the ball goes into suspend mode.

...because all that matters is offensive numbers and Gobert sucks at offense...right?
