It is certainly not out of the realm of possibility. I think Huerter is a little more natural as a player though. I actually really like Buddinger coming out of Arizona and of not for the injuries I think he could have had a really solid career.

I'd like to see the Jazz get another player who can create his own shot off the dribble. When defenses switch everything, all of our hand-offs and side-to-side passes don't accomplish much. This is where I'm a bit down on DD, Allen and even Huerter. We want another guy who can score in isolation as well as play in a system. Guys like Simons, Okobo, and J. Robinson can beat their defender, create their own look and score at 3 levels.

Honestly, I think the discussion should come down to Simons or J. Robinson, unless Okobo is clearly BPA. Imagine the Jazz having two athletic scorers who can play both on and off the ball instead of just one. Simons' length and athleticism gives him a lot of upside.

I think Aaron Holiday would be a nice fit and backup PG(Safety net in case Ricky get's injured). He is the type of player we need to come off the bench who can score in a hurry and also can defend. There are some good players in this range that are either good offensively or good defensively, I think Holiday could be both.

He wouldn't have been a value at 21 either. He had a longer career than most who are picked at that point of the draft, and if weren't for injuries it probably would have been longer. He'd also be much more useful with his skillset now than back when he played.

Regardless, I don't think Huerter plays like Bud. He's really got game off the bounce. His shooting is obviously the selling point, and what makes him a safe pick imo, but his off the dribble game is what separates him from the other shooters. He was nasty in the mid range game and is a really smart passer. He makes quick decisions and knows how to play. If none of that extra stuff pans out, sure, he can be like Bud or a handful of other journeymen....but that is a lower end comp for me.

As a player, he actually reminds of Hood a bit. Not a popular player around these parts, but he comes without the mental issues, he can pass, and he's not soft on defense. Huerter is taking another chance on Hood, but without the baggage.

I'm not comparing Huerter to Budinger or saying he would have been a value pick at 21, I just used the opportunity to declare my irrational fondness to Budinger since his name came up.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

You just know that if Justin Bibbins makes it to the league, his nickname will be Justin Bieber.

Am I the only one who views Musa as a second rounder?

I don't think you are alone. Some people are not very high on him and I can understand it. I'm betting on the upside, shooting and offensive refinement making him a good wing. But he is kind of skinny and there are some worries about his back from what I've heard.

Thanks for the info. Is there a source for it? Did he workout for Portland? Also, do you have info about when the workout is?

I have a theory that Musa was who Lindsey was talking about when he mentioned the risky high upside pick.

IMO it's probably more about Simons. But Musa fits too...

The question with Musa is defense. Who is he going to guard?

Musa dribbles pretty well for a 6'9 (in shoes) guy, a good trait to have. He is close to a negative wingspan player at 6'8.5" (aka a T-Rex), but Hayward almost was as well. He shoots it well and handles it pretty well though, most 6'9" guys never attain both those skills, let alone at 19 years old.

Somewhere around here(but he was talking conceptually about the considerations you have to make with potential/risk picks):
http://www.1280thezone.com/dennis-lindsey-jazz-will-use-mitchell-gobert-as-key-pieces-in-pitches-to-free-agents/

Also... Perrin had an interview after a workout where he straight up said we might be looking more towards high potential pick who might contribute in 2-3 years, rather than a player ready to play now.

Yah, he's very skilled and can shoot it relatively well, but he's really skinny. His body is not ready to compete right now IMO.

Mo Wagner and Grayson Allen are leading #LockeWatch less than two weeks out of the draft. “If we take Wagner at 21 I’m fine with that”.

Oh boy...I hope the Huerter promise is real and nobody takes him before us.
