Nice move by the Lakers with signing Bradley. If he still has something left in the tank he's going to be a very important player for them.

Denver grabbing Grant is huge for them. He is the main guy I wish we could have traded Exum and draft picks for. He would fit in extremely well on the Jazz. Anyways, that’s a killer trade for Denver and makes them much harder to defend IMO.

All he will be asked to do is defend and shoot 3’s. IF (big IF) he does have anything, this is about as good of a spot as he could have hoped for.

After the apparent disbandment of the THunder they let Alec go and sign a contract with the Warriors:

That’s a smart and classy move by the Thunder. The small markets have to work 100% harder to maintain a good reputation. Other wise they will never get “vets” to sign there.

I like Spellman. With the addition of he and Burks the warriors are starting to look pretty deep.

Good for Alec, and props to the Thunder.

Also, the Thunder are working with Westbrook on a trade. Would you rather have 32 year old Conley on a 1+1 (ETO) deal, or a 30 year old Wesbrook on a 3+1 (player option) deal?

Now people can’t argue with me when I call LeBron a PG.

Westbrook fits this team about as good as Rubio did....

And could you just imagine Westbrook on the Jazz after everything?

Bradley to the lakers is a good signing for them and not great for us. As overrated as Bradley was defensively with Boston, his main strength was keeping up with faster smaller guards so in a head to head match up I can see him and KCP (both very similar defenders) making Conley work and being constant pest. Green will most likely take Mitchell and make him work for it so this is becoming an interesting battle as we need Conley and Mitchell to be dominant as we know Lebron will be for them. Its going to take a lot for Gobert to breakeven with Davis regardless of what has happened in previous match ups as those match ups didn't have Lebron attacking the rim and also had Favors to help out alongside even if it was for only 12 minutes a game. As things stand Im more concerned by the Lakers than the Clippers.

As for other teams I don't think many teams have had bad off seasons, even the Knicks assembled some talent to make them more competitive whilst their younger guys develop. Only really the Hornets with their overpay of Rozier and Orlando signing Aminu when they didn't need one bit are the two deals off the top of my head that I haven't like in any capacity and didn't make sense. But whilst I feel most team have done well I don't think with the exception of both LA teams the ones around us have improved with their additions. I look at Portland and I like the deal for Whiteside given Nurkic is going to be out for the season but I think at best their the same team by this addition and in all likelihood their slightly worse. They could still improve but it will come internally rather than because they signed Whiteside. Same with Denver and Grant. I like Grant and think he would be very useful for any team, but this trade seems to be more of a cover for the inevitable departure of Milsap next off season and in the mean time they could better depth. Undeniably a good deal but I don't think it improves them and they too will be relying on internal improvement.

538 dropped their comprehensive defensive metric called "DRAYMOND":

Rudy is no. 4 in the league since 2013-2014 season and was no. 7 last season... No. 1 was Derrick Favors.

It's possible we will miss Derrick more than we currently are assuming...

Great link. I agree that at least defensively the Jazz will miss Favors, but I think it is all about increasing the overall net rating by increasing the offense and shooting. Quins's system, and really the modern NBA, is all about spreading the floor and protecting the paint at the same time. The last couple of years, the Jazz got a ton of open looks, but didn't effectively spread the floor. This year they should. Time will tell how much we miss Favors, if much at all (other than he was an awesome player and good guy).

We'll feel Favors absence in the second unit, but not so much in the starting lineup. Jae was not good, and we were still significantly better due to the fit/talent tradeoff. It's also worth keeping in mind that our second unit was getting dumpstered before Korver came. We couldn't score before he was acquired. Wonder how successful the bench unit will be with Davis. We should have 4 out personnel.

It's funny to me how Silver's solution to not applying the tampering rules is not to enforce them more strictly, it's to change the rules to accommodate the tampering. Just hilarious.

oooohhhh, some of us have been saying that losing Favs is a huge deal. His strengths far outweigh any "fit" issues, IMO. The man finished a number of games ahead of the best defender in the world ..... that's saying something. As excited as I am about the Jazz's additions, I already miss Favors nearly equally as much.

A.K.A. kiss the a** of the superstars and big market teams further. Not surprised.
