The two best athletes the Jazz have (Exum/Burks) spend more time in Quin dog house then they do on the court. Adding athletes would do nothing for this team as Quin can't utilise them correctly.

If you aren't a Quin guy him simply won't utilize you regardless of your athletically ability. I look at the Knicks right now and a guy like Trey Burke would be a hell of a lot more useful on this team than Dante at this point. At least he could provide some scoring and outside shooting. At this point it just feels like Exum is a lost cause because you either give him the minutes to actually play through his mistakes and hopefully learn or you continue on this same path where he never gets the minutes to grow. Giving Exum enough rope sink or swim is the only way to truly figure out what he is. With Rubio around though I don't see this ever happening.

In this week's KIA Rookie of the Year rankings, there are three high ranked rookies helping propel their teams to better than expected records in the competitive WC: #1 ranked Luca Doncic at Dallas, #3 ranked Shai Gilgeous-Alexander at LAC and #4 ranked Jaren Jackson Jr. at Memphis.

Snips: Dallas has won six of their last eight while #1 Doncic has had at least nine rebounds in each of the last three games and continues to come up with big plays down the stretch. Doncic is averaging 19.3 ppg, 6.9 rebs and 4.1 assists.

At 6-foot-6, #3 Gilgeous-Alexander, Clipper's PG, has the size to defend and has shown the ability to navigate the pick-and-roll, hitting 50 percent of his mid-range jumpers to date. Over his last seven games, he’s averaged 14.1 points on 50 percent shooting as the Clippers had won five straight before Tuesday’s 125-118 loss to the Washington Wizards.

In a 112-104 win over the Kings last week, Grizzlies' JJJ scored 27 points with six rebounds, four steals and a pair of blocks. He made 11 of 16 shots and was a force the Kings couldn’t solve. The Grizzlies are a surprise atop the Western Conference standings, and their young big man is a big reason for that.

It's fascinating to me that the Grizz have been able to overcome aging stars, overcome the task for Conley to regain his mojo after missing last season, and overcome Chandler Parsons' bad max contract to be in the number one slot after 17 games. If the Grizz stay healthy, they probably have as good a shot as anyone besides the Warriors of finishing as a top four team in the West.

Of note, Marc Gasol is attempting 4.5 threes per game and knocking them down at a 39% rate. Just three seasons ago, Marc Gasol wasn't even shooting threes, attempting 0.1 threes per game. JJJ is only at 28% on threes for the season, but has knocked them down at 55.6% the last five games on nearly two attempts per game. This reminds me that the Jazz have the worst Center/PF three point shooting in the entire NBA. Backup PF Crowder takes them, but he is only connecting at a 30.3% rate.

The Grizz drafted very well at #4 after adding a little juice to a tank last season by pulling Gasol out of Q4 in a Jazz game. The Clippers didn't tank last season, but apparently found a gem in Gilgeous-Alexander after trading up to #11 draft spot from #12 spot.

Gasol is incredibly effective on both ends of the ball. I love watching him post, pass, shoot, cut up defenses in a bunch of different ways. Then he anchors a killer defense on the other end and rebounds. The guy is a model center.
In '03-'04, Jerry Sloan coached the ESPN predicted "worst team of all time" to 42-40.

Yes, I just noticed that Gasol is leading the NBA in Defensive RPM. He is way ahead of Gobert so far, 4.72 to 2.67.

I wonder how Noah is gonna do in Memphis. He fits the bill perfectly, but does he have anything left?

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

Clipper are on the top of the West suddenly. Looks like I missed something... Please, can anybody tell me what bold trade for top 10 talent get them there?

I think they come back down to earth but they have a ton of depth and 2 of the best 6th men in the nba in Williams and Harrell who dominate opposing teams benches.

Otto Porter (personal) will not play Friday night vs. the Sixers.
We don't yet have any details on the nature of Otto's absence, but hopefully all is well. Dwight Howard (back surgery) remains on the shelf and, unfortunately, Jeff Green (back) is questionable for this contest, which may leave the Wizards shorthanded up front. Markieff Morris and Kelly Oubre are the primary beneficiaries here. Jason Smith or Ian Mahinmi may re-enter the rotation as well. Nov 30 - 1:38 PM

I'm sure it's a trade to the Jazz, right? :P

Cap Flexibility and Team Continuity are questionable for the Jazz's game tonight vs the Charlotte Hornets.

With all due respect to Luka, I think JJJ is the best prospect out of this draft. That guy is incredible.

A product of a one-year tank, just a reminder.

Houston, Boston getting their heads on straight again. Hopefully you can add us to the list, too.

1/4 through the season, and 9 Western Conference teams within 1.5 games of being in or out of playoffs. Crazy.

The Timberwolves, who were put in a tough position by Butler's unexpected trade demand, managed to not only land on their feet, but arguably improved with the trade. That is a pretty amazing result for trading an expiring asset where they were forced to make a trade. Covington seems to be fitting in beautifully, both defensively, where he leads the NBA in DRPM, and offensively, where he is scoring a career high 14.6 ppg on efficient shooting. Meanwhile, KAT is getting his mojo back as one of the premier young centers in the league. The Wolves went 5-9 during the Butler turmoil; they've gone 8-3 with Covington. Saric is contributing as well. Both Covington and Saric are on attractive contracts.

Jimmy was the best thing to happen to the Wolves. Kay needed that kick in the ass and he also gave them Cov and Saric.
