I have to agree with others here. TJ is not a shooter. He's less of a shooter than Rubio IMO.

Forget a trade. Can we sign Kemba Walker in FA?

Nah, I bet he signs with Hornets for the most money. He's been on a cheap contract so far. He will be 29 and that will be his last big payday.

TJ shoots one 3 per36 minutes. He might be good on that one attempt, but he isn't providing spacing.

That's largely a function of his role on the team, the personnel and the system. If he were playing in the Jazz's system he'd be taking much more 3pt shots.

I disagree. TJ has never been a shooter, and the Sixers would absolutely love it if he took and made more 3's.

I wouldn't say he's a shooter. I said that he can shoot, which, to me, is a bit different. What I mean is that of course I wouldn't want him to take 6 three pointers a game, but if he finds himself free within the flow of the offense, his percentages suggest we'll see better results than what we see with Rubio and Exum. On the other hand, I do think we should have a better starter than that.

Miami is playing 4 guys off the bench and 3 of them are bigs. Olynyk is no star, but the exact type of player we need.

Come on! Lets do this! 2 firsts, Allen and fillers for Beal... do it!

YES!!!!

They can have Exum or Crowder instead of Allen if they want, too.

Or a Beal + Porter deal?

Just get Beal, please. Do it DL!

Leak “rumors” about KD wanting to go back home to DC with wall, then help WAS clear enough cap space to sign him.

I'm back on the Otto Porter bandwagon, I think. Burks + Exum + 2019 1st? Better yet, Burks + Sefelosha + Allen + 2019 1st.

I'd think Porter is also more realistic for us. The package to get Beal will have to be a lot sweeter I think. I'd still dream of Beal, but Porter could be great. That player option might make the contract situation interesting down the line.

Porter is a (good) role player on a max contract. Can't see him forgo a 28M player option, he'll never be paid that amount of money per season ever again.

I can't help but wonder if the Pels will get Otto then end up the 2nd or 3rd seed in the West with many Jazz fans wondering what might have been if we had pulled the trigger on Mirotic and Porter.

Anyone know why Exum and Favors can't be traded until mid-Jan instead of mid-Dec? Weren't their contracts agreed to over the summer?

There is no reason to wonder what might have been with Mirotic. If you want him, you can make a bid for him this offseason when he is a UFA. Which is why there wasn't a reason to give up any assets for him when he was traded. We made the second round, and the result wouldn't have been better had we traded for him.

It is also hard to imagine the Pelicans trade for Porter and being able to keep Mirotic given their cap situation:
Holiday: 25M
Davis: 25M
Mirotic: 12.5M (expiring, and due a raise wherever he goes)
Porter: 26M
Randle: 8.6M this season with a 9M player option for next season, which he has thoroughly outperformed, and is likely to out out of.

Trade for Beal. Donovan and Beal would be pushing for the 2nd best back court in the west.

Beal would be better than great, but I just don't see the Jazz having the assets to get him over what would probably be offered by others. If I am the Wizards, I want a haul for him. He isn't expiring and doesn't have a bad rep.

I agree that Otto Porter isn't a #2 and instead is a really good role player who is overpaid, but other than playmaking and perhaps initiating the offense, he is what the Jazz need as far as a 3 and D wing who will help space out the floor, defend multiple positions and have a net positive impact. He should be able to be realistically had. I'm not sure who else the Jazz could realistically get this summer who would be a better alternative. Maybe Tobias Harris, but you would probably have to pay him as much per year and years that would extend into the time frame to resign DM and Gobert, and he isn't the greatest defender. Also, signing him isn't a sure thing. Other realistic possibilities?

The Jazz probably have their hands tied until mid-Jan anyways.

You just described Joe Ingles, who currently makes between a half and a third of what Porter makes.
