God poor kid. At this point it's clear his body can't handle the NBA. This sucks.

That's it. At this point, I'm signing off on his career. His body is too brittle for NBA basketball.

And Exum was the hold up for getting Conley? Should have been Favors as the hold up if he would have been included

Per WebMD "Tears can be complete or partial. A small rip probably won't require surgery. You'll wear a brace and do physical therapy for 3 to 6 weeks while the tendon heals. A larger tear might need a surgical repair"

I wonder when/how it happened. Was it already torn and it didn't feel right the entire time? Did it happen during the last game?

This is so frustrating for fans as well as for Exum, I feel very bad for him. Alas, the guy is made of glass.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

I hope this gives the FO pause as they evaluate roster improvements. I have been quietly behind him becoming an impact player for the Jazz, but it seems as if his body simply can't hold up to the rigors of being an NBA athlete. I think the trainers know this, which may be why they have been so patient and cautious when bringing him back from previous injuries. If its not already, the time is VERY near when the Jazz need to "cut bait" and move on. I feel badly for him. While Neto has had some nagging injuries as well, he has been significantly better in his role and makes the second unit click at a rate Dante hasn't seen for several years. There have been numerous comments like "Dante was just starting to make some positive strides" or, "he was really beginning to show why he can be a valuable piece,", etc, which is then immediately followed by, "then he hurts his Fill in the blank."

I feel bad for Exum. It's really too bad as it looked like he was finally putting it together to be a solid impact player off the bench. Really unfortunate for all involved.

I've seen injury prone players before but Exum has now taken it to a new level. I've never seen anything quite like this before.

Well, he is a Jazz player until the end of his contract for sure now as I don't see anyone wanting to trade for him, so we can continue to hold out hope he turns the corner next season (wash, rinse, repeat).

Google said this about his surgery: "Even with these steps, there is a minimum of 3 months until the return of normal daily activities, and 4-6 months until sports should be resumed. While most people heal completely from a patellar tendon surgery, there can be long-term weakness even with a successful repair."

So he's likely out until at least September (so maaaaaybe back at the beginning of the season) and he might have some continuing weakness in that knee. Without a jumper, that really could be a career killer for him.

I hope he make its back. Major bummer. But realistically, at this point, he is reduced to an expiring contract two seasons from now.

I just feel bad for Dante. Such a bummer for him. He's put in a lot of work for what I assume is now a short career.

It stinks. I'm sure he'll be stuck with a lot of what could have been.

He did get a payday that (I at least thought) he didn't warrant. He's got 3 more years of guaranteed money that the rest of the league executives raised an eyebrow at last summer. So he kept it together long enough to get his post rookie payday, and he did better than market, for sure. He's set.

I forgot to share this when I listened to it, but DL was on 1280 last week and was asked about Dante. He said his injury was not as serious as it could have been and that the patellar tendon was only partially(about 1/3d whatever that means) torn which gives much better prognosis long-term than if it was fully torn.

He said he could have rehabbed and not got a surgery, but either way it would have probably taken the full playoffs before he's ready so they decided to go for the surgical option because it gives better long-term results.

So it sounds like we are going to run it back with glassman again, and not even with Neto, where we hope we can get 82 games combined from the two of them. Has anyone seen or heard of Exum working out or anything?
