Re: Putting Dante Exum into perspective
Looking like he'll miss 2 weeks. Not good, but not terrible. Timing of Rubio getting hurt is tough though. Time to see what kind of PG shops DM has, and Neto will obviously get a big jump in minutes. Hard not to like the steadiness of Neto's game.

Re: Putting Dante Exum into perspective
Locke said during the game that Dante is returning to practice this week, so we will get to see that in action. If he continues to play as he was we are a better team. He'd be really useful against this Memphis team.

Re: Putting Dante Exum into perspective
So Exum came back last night against OKC. There was some talk in the press that he might have missed so many games that he worked his way out of the rotation. Hard to tell from last night considering Rubio and Neto were both out, but I hope the Jazz keep playing Exum and let him work through mistakes. We are going to need his length, speed and defense in the playoffs.
I wish the Jazz would have let him bring the ball up the court a little more last night.

Totally agree. Mitchell is great some nights, but he his so ploddingly slow when he brings up the ball to set things up, puts zero pressure on the defense mos of the time. Exum would likely at least try to break down the defense and dribble out or pass out.

At least we know he's still alive.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

I thought he looked good in the second half

Re: Putting Dante Exum into perspective
Last night in 9 minutes he had no points on 0-2 from the field, 0 assists, 0 steals, 0 blocks, 2 rebounds, 2 turn overs, and 3 personal fouls and was -8 against the second unit of the worst team in the West.
This guy was way over-hyped coming into the league and we weren't necessarily suckers for picking him but we've become suckers for keeping faith in him and paying him $33 million.

It's just his second game back after missing a lot of time. He looked good before he was injured and hopefully by playoff time he'll play at that level again.

It's his third game back for injury, I think your expectations might be too high. Even if it becomes a bad contract, it's not crippling.

Re: Putting Dante Exum into perspective
It’s going to be very hard to justify playing Exum over Neto. Neto has answered the call every time he’s had to play. He’s been consistent and way more reliable.
I can see Exum getting situational minutes in the playoffs, but Neto is the better player right now.

We don't need to justify playing Exum over Neto, we just have to wait until one of them is injured again, which is likely to be soon.

Well, that was quick. Exum injured again already.

We aren't sure, we will have to reevaluate it in 2 weeks.

I agree. My expectations are too high. I expect someone to produce at least like a late first rounder if they were taken with the #5 overall pick and millions of dollars has been spent on them.
With Exum we've had 5 years of of injuries and suck, with the occasional good game or even streak of good games sprinkled in. If he were a cake, he'd be one giant cowpie with some sprinkles on top.
Last night in 3 minutes, he had 0 points, 0 assists, 0 rebounds, 0 steals, 0 blocks, 1 foul, and 2 turnovers.
How long do we keep making excuses for him? Injured or no? Its year 5............

Dante Exum is not good at basketball.
I've been saying it for 5 years now.
His is the worst contract in the Dennis Lindsey era.

I was going to say earlier today, we gotta get something for him while we still can...
That's what I get for even thinking that.
