CP3 had a great series, and it is not because of switching. Same thing the year before. If you don’t know how or why CP3 torches us...it seems misplaced to make large sweeping statements on Gobert like that.

The thing with CP3, he has a great mid range game. Our defensive hole is the mid range. Therefore CP3 had a great series last year. And our 2 PG's, one was defending Harden, the other was injured. So CP3 had better looks then normal as he had a rookie on him.

There are only 2 names that deserve mention this year, and #2 really isn't close enough for this to be much of a debate.

Should be easily Rudy with Giannis a somewhat distant 2nd.

I think Myles Turner deserves a mention, too, but I agree overall.

Hopefully the voting has already taken place because I guarantee this first 2 games have completely influenced the national media. They have also influenced me though because I now have Harden as my mvp. The guy is the most unstoppable offensive force that I have ever seen. So damn good that he blew up our defense before the series even began.

Well, he got first team defensive honors this year. Curious if he gets DPOY.

Does he get bonus for DPOY?

Will it raise his cap number?

$2 million unlikely annual bonus (All-Defensive 1st Team bonus for $500,000 [Achieved 2016-17], $250,000 defensive rating, $250,000 rebounds per game)
$1 million All-Star team starter or reserve
$250k unlikely Defensive Rate less than 100
TBD body fat/weigh-in bonus

Rudy landed on the All NBA third team. A nice honor for the "non All Star". ;) (He got 1 1st team vote.)

DM was in the "others receiving votes" category, with 4 3rd team votes.

Lot of the members on the Charlotte board are cursing their luck that Kemba is all-NBA because he'll be eligible to take up more of their cap.

Yes, the supermax is a problem for the books. Cheers to Rudy for some recognition though.

If Giannis doesn't win MVP, I could see the league handing him DPOY as kind of a runner-up award. I think most people see Rudy as the DPOY right now though. It showed in his 1st-team votes. He's gotten his recognition in the past couple years.

Agreed. But isn't voting already supposed to be done for the regular season awards? This feels like it would be the result of playoff consolation awards.

Tonight is the night. I think Giannis wins MVP, Rudy DPOY and Doncic ROY.

I've lost interest long ago in all the NBA awards, the decision to move them so far back instead of releasing them during the playoffs is such a huge turnoff, it's a momentum killer. By now I no longer care.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

Last week, when I was watching ESPN about the Conley trade, one of the hosts made a comment about Conley playing with Mitchell & the 2 time DPOY. I barely blinked, because it was said so "matter of fact". Didn't really dawn on me until now that he hasn't already won it. lol

That's right our boy RUDY GOBERT wins DPOY. Absolutely deserved, DGAF what anyone says, he has his matchups where he is more effective and less effective. But when he is his most effective he is leaps and bounds better than anyone else at defense.

Glad Rudy won! There was a time where I didn't think it was going to happen, but it did. He deserves it no question.

(I do think Giannis was close though)
