I hope they have a plan B for their offense and defensive game plan. And it better not be just rotate faster and shoot better.

Force right, dont stand behind Harden, win the make/miss game. That’s what we gotta do.

Re: Game 2: Utah Jazz (0-1) @ Houston Rockets (1-0)
After torturing myself and watching the all the clips, it’s clear that the Jazz don’t know how to scramble and rotate. Our perimeter guys haven’t had to help for years. Now that we are asking them too, we’re out of position all the time.
Call me crazy, but I’ve change my mind and concluded that we should Mitchell on the ball and Rubio off of it. The off ball role requires much more awareness and decision making. The on ball roll is just a police escort to the rim. Rubio is the smarter and more active player than Mitchell.
Also, I don’t know if it’s even worth it to play Jae instead of Thabo because he has horrible awareness and doesn’t grind like Thabo.

It's tough as the guy escorting Harden to the paint and Gobert end up both guarding Harden, leaving Capella or an outside shooter open (unless there is some way that the escort or Gobert can block off the passing lane while doing their primary duty). I think that you've got to have someone assigned to Capella and take your chances that the guy shooting the 3 won't have a great shooting night.

Can't be the guy in the corner though. They have to make Harden make the pass out to the opposite wing. It's a much tough angle, shot, and gives us more time to rotate back.
I just don't think the Jazz players are in tune with rotating and scrambling back. It's not natural for everyone to help and rotate.
The guy escorting Harden has to stay in the play too. I feel bad for Ricky be cause once he's on his back, Harden just sprints forward and he has no chance of catching back up. He's just not the athlete that Bledsoe is. Mitchell is, however, so I think he should be on the ball.

Harden will wear padding on his left buttcheek. Protection from the dry hump D.

With plans heavu focused a certain Harden it is surely do-not-make/miss alternative.
To have the whole team
which supposed be proud of their patented defense
be so scared of one player do not even named Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and plays mostly offense
so much that they change all their defensive ways
is a pretty goo(d) recipe for loss.

Yes Harden hits the stepback 3 at a near 40% clip. Still I'll take my chances on him making a bunch of those vs giving them 24 open 3s.. many being corner. Also Joe.. friggin shoot the damn ball!!

Warning, homer post: i think its crazy how suddenly the expectations shift towards the supposed "role players" / minor pieces to save the season now. I think its time for our celebrated super talents and "big three" to step up. They first and foremost should carry the weight, at least offensively, and surely on D too, and not a guy half of this board asked to be traded only months ago. I was surprised noone even mentioned how Rubio was the only one to score in the beginning whereas Mitchell, Ingles pretty much disappeared and not because of super defense / no defense on Ricky. Had he had a poor Shooting night i'm sure the thread would have been filled with "hes garbage" posts instantly.

We don't have a "big three".

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

The big 3 is Rubio, Rubio’s shadow, and Rubio’s cat. Everything about Rubio all day everyday.

We are either going to win it or lose by 30.

Saw some numbers that our shot quality wasn’t too different than HOU’s...interesting.
But we also have to win the extra possession game. We can’t turn the ball over 8 more times then them and we have to dominate the glass.
HOU does not run, there’s no punishment for crashing the glass. One of the few advantages we have is size, but Quin refuses to use it.

Jazz got to limit turnovers, keep Capela off the boards and Ingles needs to be more aggressive and not be afraid to shoot it.

i'd agree, since the message is usually "the Team is the star", but i've read so much here about how great Mitchell, Gobert and Ingles are (read through the trade threads...), that apparently i'm wrong with this.

As far as roster building goes, those three are core, no question about it. Gobert is a star player, Mitchell isn’t a star but can be, and Ingles is a perfect compliment to any roster composition. Everyone else is expendable, replaceable, and or needs to be upgraded.
It does not make them a big three and I haven’t seen anyone mention them as a big three.
