What do you think of the Justin Zanik promotion?

Justin Zanik is the new general manager of the Utah Jazz. Dennis Lindsey is promoted to vice-president role over all Jazz operations.

I don't know the guy. Everybody says he is smart.

What do you guys think?

I feel like Dennis Lindsey was superb come draft night and horrendous at facilitating a trade mid-year. I give him an A for draft trades and a D for mid-season trades.

Read that Zanik is more aggressive so that’s a plus, I think DL finally realized maybe he was too patient.
Ingles is cooked.

Remains to be seen, as this can be more of a move to retain both by promoting them than it was about an actual shift in the way the Jazz will operate. In fact, the Jazz have always acted very conservatively and chose GMs who would act the same, be it by an ownership mandate or a shared philosophy, so it very well could be that we'll see no major difference and Zanik will continue to do things the way the Jazz always have. Time will tell.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

Said it in the other thread. My feelings are that it gives both guys new titles, more money, and keeps them here. This likely changes nothing about how the franchise is run. Still the same people making the same decisions. This is just a move to keep Zanik away from another franchise.

At least he didn't do any stupid moves in the past (either in the lottery or in a trade). Kind of kudos for him.

On the other hand, sometimes I think he was too passive in the trade deadlines.

I would give him a C+.

This is a way to keep Zanik in the Jazz organization. He's valued and we want him to stay.
