Yeah, that was the bowling ball being inserted into the backside after getting reamed over and over again with the other terms. That also means that the pick is tied up and can't be conveyed for potentially several years. I have no words.

We don't. Not a surprise though since our gm gets trade raped pretty often.

Hmm. I'm surprised. Most of our board does and is jealous that's all it took for Conley. Hope it all works out.

We could be planning to play Favors at the 4 full time with Conley being able to shoot it. But we'll have to wait and see what moves are available.

We can't even trade for another PG-rental once Conley leaves next season.

So how does this work for cap and exception contracts? The order of operations always baffles me.

We have the room exception and that's it.

I came in all excited with all the talk on social media that we may be the #1 seed, and y'all asses made me depressed. Wtf is wrong with us?

So, what are we going to do in two years when Conley expires (let's say he opts in on his second year) and DM gets a max deal and Gobert signs a supermax which might be the largest contract in the history of the league at that time? Where are we going to find the cap space to replace Conley? This move just consigned the Jazz for years of above-mediocrity and the 1st-2nd round treadmill while still not making the Jazz a real contender for the next two seasons. And giving up two draft picks (the protections are terrible) + Allen for the dubious privilege of absorbing one of the largest contracts in the league... :nonono: I highly doubt there was another team out there that was willing to pay what we just pay. It feels like we bid against ourselves. We were the ones who should have received assets for absorbing this massive contract and forgoing any avenue for improvement for the next 5-7 years, due being capped out in the next 2 seasons and then maxing DM and Gobert.

Also, is Korver retiring? Didn't we really need his shooting, which is why we traded for him in the first place? And we gave away Crowder who was the only stretch-ish 4 we had. We could probably replace him, but his contract was very convenient. But we also gave up Allen, who is also supposed to help with shooting. Bottom line, we gave up a whole lot of shooting, which is what we lacked the most to begin with. Also, this move just took out most of the interest from the draft. Ugh.

While the direction this team was headed was pretty obvious before, this move carves in stone the Jazz's treadmilling for the next 5-7 years. Now it's official.

I think we should acknowledge that our late first rounders don't carry that much trade value. We rarely tank, and we rarely find ourselves in any interesting place in the lottery. We're not Detroit.

That being said, we must be on the lookout for ways to acquire swings in the draft now. Gotta have those rookie contracts coming in to keep building a competitive roster.

Either that, or playing more small ball with Royce+Ingles as the forwards. I think we're both OK to not get into it again  But I will just say that this is a huge question mark for the playoffs. Agree or disagree, Quin does not believe in it. He has gone to zero Favors PF minutes. The small ball lineup is also something he's not tried.

Quin will have to do something he's not believed in. Small ball, Favors at the 4, or Niang.

I can see the jazz not picking up the option on favors to give them flexibility to fill in the other positions

We might extend him if he opts out. We'll have to see how it works.

If we don't get a championship this year, DL should be fired. Horrid trade, absolutely horrid.

We'll see, but everyone is bragging about being able to keep Favors. I can almost guarantee you our GM (President?) will be boasting and bragging about it the soonest he can.

The Jazz have moved heaven and hell to keep Favors. Favors is a good dude and great player. We don't need to have such priority on the backup for our soon to be supermaxed C.

Really? Then let's make a deal--we'll trade Conley to the Suns for 2 first round picks, a young first-year prospect, and a stretch 4. Deal?

I wanted DLo, but for real, we got an all-star point guard. Favors is all-star caliber player that plays a smaller role. We need to value him.

But even then, we can use the cap space with Favors to get another player. Dennis Lindsey is going all in, and you all are just depressed?

Lets hope he gives us a title like the other player who refered to it as the "city of Utah" did for Dallas:

With what, our second round picks, that DL doesn't use?

Inigio is right, this is a win now move that handcuffs the Jazz for several years to come.

Yeah, Niang could see some real minutes. We'll probably go for a big forward with the room exception. But we'll see how flexible Snyder is this season. Gotta work with what they give you, and get the most out of the talent available. Looking over Favors' history with Snyder, we've got these position estimates for Favors:

2015 - 75% PF, 26% C (Basketball-ref thinks 101% ha)
2016 - 46% PF, 54% C
2017 - 46% PF, 54% C
2018 - 39% PF, 61% C
2019 - 42% PF, 58% C

That's more PF than I was expecting.

Now what happens if Conley leaves next year and Rudy is pissed off and leaves in 2021? We very well might give Memphis a top 10 pick in the double draft.
