Took Quin until the last 50 seconds to finally pressure Morris from the full court. The less time Jokic has with the ball in hands the less likely he will be able to complete a play.
This loss in on the coach.

What is super concerning is that the 3 last losses are playoff teams decimated with injuries. What happens when they are full strength?

This feels like the annual time of year for home anxiety remedies.

We improve.
Seriously I think Quin is a terrible in game coach who is way too stubborn to make adjustments throughout games and doesn't read the game well at all. Like finishing the third with our three best defenders on the bench while the Nuggets had Jokic on the floor, only to eventually bring Gobert back in once they decided to go small where we don't have an advantage on either end, by which time the game was too far gone. Likewise Mitchell was completely out of it today and instead of acknowledging that he continued to go to him and force the issue, then let Donovan off the hook by accepting him not getting back on defense, any other player would be benched for failing to get back like Mitchell did to finish the third and start the fourth. The only time he really makes any adjustments is for injuries, foul trouble or for Bradley and Mudiay when they aren't playing well in which case its a simple swap of bringing in the starter.
In saying that Quin is one of the best when it becomes to preparing for games and it is easier to prepare for consistent starters then it is bench players who you don't know what you're going get from them and what line ups they will use. If Mason Plumee plays today the Nuggets likely don't go five out which is when they did their damage to begin the fourth. If Jamall Murray plays, Torey Craig plays less minutes and Donovan most likely isn't held to 0 points for the first 3 and half quarters. Off course it works both ways and Murray could hurt us on the other end but it is easier to prepare for that than the other way around. So I feel the more we can prepare for certain match ups the better we play, I just wish that when plans aren't working Quin would be more proactive in altering the plan to accomodate what the opponent is doing.

Glad we are about to hit the all-star break. I'm not as upset as others are. I'm dissapointed, but I think this is still a really good team.

I think it is funny that people have thought he's good and/or better than Conley (who has also been bad). Mudiay is probably one of the 5 worst second string point guards in the league.

Another game I didn't watch (just too busy) and another loss in what appears to be another game I won't regret missing. BTW, why Conley hadn't played? Was he injured, was it "load management" (why would he need that?), or did Snyder just took him out of the rotation completely for some reason?

Probably because Mudiay turns the ball over less, is shooting way better from the field than Conley (even his 3pt shooting is better than Conley), is a better defender, and isnt making 30+ million to be the worst player on the Jazz.
Its easier to stomach his trash play over Conley's trash play.

Mudiay had been playing extremely well prior to Conley coming back. He has also always been one of the those that has some terrible games and seems to need consistent playing time to find his groove. All those factors make this a difficult situation for him. It is funny how you act like he was playing terrible for us prior to Conley coming back because we all know it isn't true. If you want to pull that crap you need to go to a non jazz board.babyjax13 wrote:SoCalJazzFan wrote:There is taking the opportunity when presented, and then there is Mudiay tonight.

Whoof, calm down, lol. He played great for what he is, and he has clearly improved since coming here, but he is nothing special.

Mudiay played his worst game of the year last night. But he's been off for good week with zero time on the floor. What did you think would happen. I knew he'd be rusty. No question he's been much better than Conley and should be getting his time back. Conley is just horrible. If Mudiay is five worst that would mean Conley is the worst.

Earlier in the year, I was hopeful about Mudiay, but his apparent hustle play this year has been fools gold. His RAPTOR stats are -2.9 OFF, -2.2 DEF and -5.0 overall. His WAR (win over replacement) is -0.8. He is an overall negative player. There is a reason he was benched when Conley came back.

Your post makes zero sense. You say that you were hopeful about him earlier in the year but the reality is that he was playing by far the best ball of his career just a little while ago prior to Conley returning. There wasn't any fools gold just a guy that seemed to be figuring it out until he lost his minutes to Conley.

I liked Mudiay's potential when he got drafted, but he hasn't been very good. While he might have been playing the best ball of his career before Conley came back, that just makes his recent play not as bad as in the past. Conley is the better player, even this year. Now which player is playing up to his contract? That is another matter entirely.

Conley is a better player than Mudiay in a vacuum (their entire careers are proof), but this season it can be argued that Mudiay played better and was more useful so far than Conley. That this is even a debate only shows what a colossal fail this trade was. Once their contracts are factored in (which is indeed another matter), there is no question who is better for this team.

Reports out that Mitchell has been making lots of locker room trips and sitting on the end of the bench to be closer to that last couple games. Seems like a "gut" problem rather than an inexplicable performance his first day as an All-Star. I think even we underestimate how much we need Fourth Quarter Don to compete with the heavy weights. I'm writing this off as a fluke game and even a schedule loss even before the Bryant thing.
