Why does Conley only shoot right handed floaters/lay-ups?

Post#1 » by BarneyGumble » Tue Mar 3, 2020 8:30 pm

I've noticed this about him since day 1 with our team. He gets into the paint and scares up a right-handed floater. His off hand. And its not very accurate.

What knee did he have surgery on?

My hypothesis: he is not healthy enough to finish when putting weight on the knee and jumping off one foot, so he has adapted to shoot running floaters with his off hand. He's not very good at it.

Any truth to this? If not, why does a left-handed player force shots with his right hand every time....even when switching to the right hand is the wrong play and makes the shot harder?

Thanks

He has always shot right handed floaters. It's been his signature shot. Why does he finish with his right hand and shoot shots with his left? Chances are he's ambidextrous. If you've noticed, Rudy prefers to dunk with his left hand. He also writes with his left hand I believe...still shoots FT's with his right hand. It's just a weird ambidextrous person thing.

EDIT: Mike Conley signing autographs with his right hand.

Interesting. Did he used to make them when he was with the Grizzlies?

Yes, he made plenty of autographs when he was with Memphis :D

Spoiler:
IIRC, Conley has been pretty good with his floaters throughout his career

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

It became his signature shot. The thing about having a floater as a signature shot is that it's still a floater, not a great shot anyways. Now he's bad at an already bad shot.

Everything is just fine folks. Ambidextrous Mike Conley just won the all NBA horse game! He punked some competitors by knocking down some shots with his alleged off hand. :D

That's the only title we're winning this year.

That's the only NBA title anyone is winning this year. Thus Mike Conley trade was successful - he won us the NBA championship.
