Game 71:Dallas Mavericks (42-30) vs Utah Jazz (43-27)

In keeping with the trend of this season, the Jazz will face yet another team who'll be missing its key players. Luka Doncic, Kristaps Porzingis, Dorian Finney-Smith will be out for this game. Not sure if we want to win this game or to lose it when it comes to seeding.

Mitchell is listed as GTD probable starter at Rotowire early this am.

A few days ago I said I wanted Denver in the first round, but I've changed my mind. In the ESPN power rankings this morning, they said that Denver is 3-0 against the Jazz, and noted that Jokic is averaging nearly a 30 point triple double in the three wins: 29.3 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists. Those are incredible stats. Let's have another go at the Rockets who are smaller this season.

Go Jazz!

Jazz are favored by 7.5 this morning. Phoenix is favored by 5 over OKC. OKC is playing without Adams, Noel and Schroder.

"This game is blocked in your area." Crap. Thought I was all set to watch the game on NBA TV today.

Fell asleep before the game started so just tuned in, glad Rayjon Tucker is being more aggressive.

Would have stayed asleep if I knew I'd have to watch Ed Davis.

Tucker attacking the rim is a thing of beauty. He wants to smash it on someone every time.

Mudiay is such a ball pounder. I think he can still develop into something if he gets a better jumper, but I'd rather see Miye Oni playing Mudiay's minutes. He's a better ball mover, better shooter, better defender.

I agree with that challenge, Tucker kicked his legs out.

It's kind of shocking watching just how significant the difference between NBA bench warmers and g-league superstars is.

Tucker is another one I can do without seeing in Jazz uniform ever again.

It's quite possible we don't have anyone past Bradley, Oni and Clarkson that is playable in the playoffs off-the-bench. And even with some of those it's a question.

Horrible, horrible bench.

I think Tucker with his athleticism can at least be developed into something. His jumper isn't completely broken, either, they just need to work on how he's jumping with it. That being said, his upside is as a mostly D, kind of 3 player off the bench.

I didn't watch the game but based on the minute distribution and who played, it looks like neither team cared about winning this game.

Jazz were up by 22 at one point. They tanked the 2nd half to stay below the Thunder in the standings, imo.

Brantley has been okay when he doesn't try to do too much. He was good in the 1st half.

One possibility that has been mentioned is that we could still drop to the 7th seed against the clips or the clips could end up slipping to the 3 instead of Denver. There are still a ton of different scenarios to play out.

Brantley and Oni have legit NBA potential......

That was a tank of all tanks.

Out of all the young guys I think Oni stands out as the one who could actually play minutes and not hurt the Jazz. Maybe Brantley would look better as a minimal usage player, but his dribble drive game and jumper probably isn't there yet. Tucker looked only semi afraid to play basketball, but still too timid to be an NBA player.

So, i actually watched this game even though I knew the result and that the scrubs would be playing, mainly to see how they would play. My take away only reinforced my belief that the Jazz need to evaluate their talent evaluators.

If you're playing 4 Gleague players + Ed Davis against 5 real NBA players...what do you expect?

How did we get to the point where this is our bench? They hit grand slams with Mitchell and Gobert, but have wiffed on pretty much everyone else going on years now. They can only get the DM and RG credit for so long. The Jazz only have about 6 or 7 legit players. It is a major fall off after that.
