Should we be concerned about Mitchell?

Post#1 » by sip » Sat Nov 21, 2020 5:00 pm

There are 4 no brainer max contracts from the 2017 draft. Tatum and Fox have already been announced while Bam may be held back until next year to maximize cap space. We have no capspace next year so obviously we should have already offered the max. I'm thinking the fact that we haven't heard anything means that Mitchell has turned down the 5 yr max and is likely pushing for a 3 or 4 yr max with a player option for the last season.

I was expecting to hear of his extension yesterday. That we haven’t heard anything is concerning to me.

It is the weekend? Maybe his agent doesn't work on Saturday/Sunday, lol. Jazz apparently sent offers to Mitchell and Gobert.

I think he will be overpaid here. (Not by much) There’s not a good reason fir him to force out. Only NYC bias which isn’t an unreasonable concern. We can’t suck and our players can’t hate each other.

Not concerned at all.

Maybe because I've already assumed that whatever contract he signs he'll ask out before it's over anyway.

The tankies will be satisfied soon enough  Once Mitchell demands his trade, which is inevitable regardless of the contract he signs, we can be a terrible with the hope of being a good team one day which is more entertaining than being a good team.
