He will get better offers than that based on his current play. If we don't trade him this year then it puts us in a really bad situation going forward because he is going to want a 3 or 4 yr extension at 20+mil a year and I don't want to pay that to a 34yr old.

Any team that is willing to offer Conley 20M+ per season deserves to actually pay him that money. That will be punishment enough.

Do you really trust Lindsey and Zanik not to make us that team? I sure as hell don't.

I don't trust them at all. Personally, I've seen enough of Lindsey and I think it's time for a change.

I'd love to see a team offer him a 3 year deal worth $60 mil.....

We have to wait. He is showing this year what he did not last. It's not worth the money he is earning nowadays, but if we continue growing and he continues this trend he is the best pg we are having for years.

A lot of people was laughing about cp3 contract... and he is showing how valuable is still.

I mean if conley is around 20 ppg with actuals fg% he is worth more than 10 M some posters want to give him.

If he's averaging 20ppg then his team is not very good.

If Ryan wants to pay the tax I don’t care if they pay him 20 million if it means keeping him versus letting him go. We are already over the cap. Once that happens I don’t see any reason not to pay him. We can’t go sign free agents.

Conley is a huge part of this winning team so I think we need to keep him and hope we can re-sign him at something reasonable next summer. With good team chemistry already established, this season is as good as any season to try to win it all. 538 currently has five teams with significantly higher chances of winning a championship than the Jazz, but there will always probably be at least five teams favored ahead of the Jazz no matter what trades we do.

We are 15 games in now and Conley is playing great, but he isn't averaging 20 ppg anymore; he's averaging 16.3 ppg, which gives us a better chance of re-signing him. If Conley wants to extend his career, this is a pretty good place to do it since not all of the ball handling duties fall on Conley.

If he keeps playing at this level, he is definitely worth $20M for 2 seasons.

That is Rubio / Terry Rozier / Dragic money.

I think if Conley is wanting to win he will take a discount, 2 year 37.

At this point I don’t see any trade.

This team doesn’t have a weakness.

Came here to find answers on this exact situation so it is awesome that you already have a thread for it. Seems like a lot of teams are up against the Luxury tax for next year, so would not shock me to see NBA do something to help out these teams after there was no noticeable increase in the salary cap the last two years.

Like many have said, if you do not trade Mike you are left with very limited options. You won't have any true cap space to sign a replacement so it will be either signing a guy using the MLE (under 10 Mil) or pay Mike Conley whatever he is worth on open market or let him walk. My guess is Conley is going to want at least 2/30 and probably more so you are going to be well over Lux Tax with that team, not sure how your owner would handle that. You could always move out some other contracts in a deal like Favors, Ingles or Bog.. I would just expect some money saving type move even if it doesn't appear to be center around Conley.

Cheaper guys that I would be targeting in trades if I were you are Lonzo, Garland, Graham, Coby White... all guys who I think could be had for the right price. You not being able to trade your first rounder right now might limit those options though.
