GTS is coming back this year. After dying out last season because of the lack of interest in the bubble.

This year I am going to do it a little differently because of time constraints.

I will submit two weeks of game on one thread. Each of you can come in give your scores in one posts or continue to do one post per game. I hope this allows more people to participate in all games, since you would only need to respond once every two weeks. Let’s get ready to rumble.

Looking forward to another season of GTS. Nice to hear about the small format change, hopefully it allow for more participants. The Jazz are ready to rumble, I can almost hear it warming up in the garage like a beautifully piped up Morotcycle!

Are we all ready for the new season of Jazz basketball?

After the disappointing covid stricken season I hope each of us and our families are in good health.

A few changes from last year to this year in the scoring and how I will administer the questions. I hope that these changes will get more to participate throughout the year.

First the scoring:

Each game I will ask for the winner, point spread and a bonus question.

Bonus question is always worth 5 points.

If you guess the winner and correct point spread, you get 10 points.
If you guess the winner and point spread is off 1 to 3 points, you get 7 points.
If you guess the winner and point spread is off 4 to 7 points you get 5 points.
If you guess the winner and point spread is off 8 or more points, you get 3 points.
If you guess the loser you get -3 points.

Example, in the last game against Clippers, Utah won 125-105. If I would have asked leading scorer, either team? If my guess was Utah by 18 and Clarkson I would have received 7 points for being off 2 points and 5 points for getting the bonus question right. Total points for the game would have been 12 points.

How I will administer the game by game this year.

Every two weeks or so I will posts the next 5-6 games in one post. You can immediately post your responses in one post or you can do it up to when each game is played in multiple posts. If you happened to post by accident two posts for the same game I’ll take your latest guess. Hopefully this allow those who are busy an easier time to get in for each game.

This year Jazz Dog is not going to be homer Jazz Dog, I’m throwing down the challenge to all players. Last year I voted against Utah maybe once, this year I want the title.

Everyone let’s get excited for this team, I think we are going to surprise a lot of people including some of our own fans. I’m calling this year the year of the 3’s.

We were all dominated by red4hf last season. We all need to pick up our game.

Stats include points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks and minus turnovers.

Bonus question. Highest +/- for Utah?

Dec 31st, Phoenix at Utah.
Bonus question. Who scores more points, Mitchell or Booker?

Jan 1st, LA Clippers at Utah.
Bonus question. Which team gets more steals + blocks?

Jan 3rd, Utah at San Antonio.
Bonus question, Who scores the most off the bench, either team?

One more item I forgot. Since I am posting some games two weeks in advance, if a player who is involved in a bonus question misses the game, all participants who guessed for that game will get the bonus question right and earn 5 points.

Does it matter how many games we pick when we post? Do you want the full two weeks of games at one time? Thanks for doing this again, BTW!

Post all at once or do each game or somewhere in between. What ever makes it easier for you. I want to give more people the chance to guess each game.

I think that would put people who post their guesses close to game day at a disadvantage and knows who will play because this system guarantees 5 points to anyone whose player didn't even get to play. I know we're all on the honor system and no one will take advantage of it but it's still creates a considerable imbalance.
