Oni gets damn little time on the floor. Hughes can't get time. Why did we need Matt Thomas? He could only average 7 minutes a game playing for a team that is in 11th place in the Eastern Conference? I would have saved the $1.5M contract (plus luxury tax and played with 14 or looked for 1 more big just in case Favors or Gobert get hurt. Other option look at buyout market for Porter or somebody that may be able to help with the bigger wings. If you are going to tell me Erson is our 3rd big save yourself the time. I wasn't expecting much from the Jazz but this one just doesn't make much sense to me.

Luxury tax move, ostensibly.

Oubre is expiring, so it would be a salary-cutting move. No, I wouldn't trade Bogey for Oubre. The Warriors sure would though.

Definitely, who's their big now? He would have sufficed for Utah.

Robert Williams and Tristan Thompson, I guess. I think they also picked up Mo Wagner fwiw.

I heard Tristan is not a team guy and is Wagner strong enough to play the C?

I think they realize they're a 1st-round out this year, and they wanted to get out of the LT.

Shoulda hit that game winner...

The Jazz really didn't have anything to trade outside of Niang and Oni, and those guys aren't going to get us an impactful defensive player.

In all honesty I'm not sure there is a starting quality defender they could trade for that would help the Jazz defend the Nets big 3, Lebron, or Kawhi. I think the idea is to hope the Jazz can keep up offensively so they have a chance to win.

I think the Jazz match up even better against the Clips now that they traded Lou for Rondo.

The Sixers and Denver are a concern though. Those are the teams the better defender could have helped us.

No but we can offer him a contract once that 10 day is over.

He probably isn't a player that can offer immediate help this season, but he might be a player that could be developed. His rebounding is already outstanding. His last stint with the Pacers in the 19-20 season, he averaged 14.6 rebs/36mins. He just averaged 15.2 rebs/36mins this last season in the G league.

I know it is an anomaly, but last night he had the most impressive first game performance on a ten day contract that I can remember, albeit in a blowout loss.

He did have a good name and he’s named after a liquor so I’m game.

Is Alize an unrestricted free agent after his ten day contract is up, or do the Nets have a first option to sign him?

Nets can negotiate with him for a second contract while they have him. Which means they can sign him again before the contract runs out and other teams can start negotiations.
