Where are the 2 year options? lol

Mike has been great. I hope he plays a couple more productive seasons for the Jazz. I think he'll also provide the Jazz with a nice discount, based on comments he's made about his future.

Still, it's hard to wrap up big money on an oft-injured 34 year old guard (34 when next season starts). Injury history aside, quickness & ability to defend will disappear out of nowhere, and then what? $20m backup for Mitchell? I'd hope for 2 years, with the first year being as heavy as the team can absorb, easing in year 2. At least make the 3rd year be team option, if it needs to be 3 years.

Side note: Niang's contract has me wondering as much as Conley's. I have no idea what is market value is. I think the Jazz system makes him look much better than he is, but his shooting is a premium skill in today's NBA.

I could see a 3 year with a TO after year 2. Declining contract as well.

I am starting to like Niang but if Otto Porter is available for the same money, I am taking Otto.

I agree, 60/3, maybe with a partial guarantee on the last year. He is a very good player, I expect a similar level of play the next two seasons, at worst.

I was thinking the same thing. 5 million guarantee for the last year.

I voted 3/75. I would love to retain him 3/60 as well, but I could Conley pushing for more since he got his All-Star selection and has been terrific of late.

Lets see if the hamstring holds up. I'd more likely do 2 years / $36MM.

He looks like an All Star because Donovan and Rudy take the lionshare of the defense's attention.

Yes, it is kind of pointless imo to speculate what to pay him on his next contract now. I love what Conley brings to the table when he is healthy, but let's see what we get from Conley for the remainder of the playoffs. I am crossing my fingers that he is ready to go for the next round and we get Conley back at full strength.

Eh, I think that is a bit unfair. No doubt those guys, especially Mitchell, command a huge amount of attention from the defense, but Conley has been quite effective leading the team when Mitchell isn't on the floor as well. Conley led both the team and the entire NBA in regular season plus/minus per game at 10.7 vs. Mitchell's 5.4, because Conley has been very effective directing the team without Mitchell in the lineup. He has also been great in crunch time. I am not claiming that Conley is as good as emerging superstar Mitchell, but I think Conley was a worthy All Star callup earlier this season.

I agree, lets see if his hamstring gets through the playoffs. Love the guy but at this point the hammy is a chronic issue with him that will not magically go away as he gets older. If he does re-sign the Jazz better get an upgrade over Forrest as an insurance policy.

Listening to NBA radio it sounds like Conley is going to get 30 mill per year because the PG market is bare.

Good luck to whoever pays him 30 mill per year.

Yeah…people need to realize how much money is out there. He’s likely going to get 2/$60M on the open market. Keep dreaming if you think he’s going to take less than $20M a year.

Yep, Knicks, Lakers, Dallas, Miami, and few others.

None of the teams that have cap space are really a fit for Conley...... Maybe Miami, maybe...... I just don't see a big market for him out there....... Of course, God knows I've been wrong before......

I don’t think Conley will care about fit, it will be about those dollar dollar bills.

You're absolutely right about that...... However, the team will care...... The Knicks are not going to splash $30 million on a player that doesn't fit their system or timeline....... Neither will OKC....... Spurs already have plenty of PGs.......

So, who's left?

Yes, this article from KSL that I posted a couple of weeks ago claimed that the Miami Heat and NY Knicks are the only two teams in need of a veteran point guard that have cap space to sign one, but I don't know why either of those teams would want to spend their free agent money on a high dollar, multi year contract for this oft-injured, soon to be 34 year old point guard.

https://www.ksl.com/article/50190581/how-mike-conleys-free-agency-will-shape-the-jazzs-offseason

Conley talks like there is nothing wrong; he wants the Jazz and the league to think of him as a normal, healthy All Star going in to free agency, but there is something wrong. He has missed a ton of games the last two seasons, including playoff games when we needed him the most. He's had recurring hamstring injuries and he isn't getting any younger.

I want the Jazz to sign him, but at a price and contract length that is somewhat reflective of the high risk that he may not suit up when we need him and reflective of the fact that he is relatively old for a point guard --- two years, $15 mill/season at the most. I am doubtful any other team is willing to offer Conley a better contract than that. Hope I don't have to eat my words. Lol.
