Jazz Plan To Sign Danuel House To 10-Day Contract

You’re probably right and so was he, if this is the big move, I’m not really a fan of the non needle moving moves.

If I'm right about there thinking, and I very well might not be, I think they'll see if adding him improves the defense. If it isn't enough, a subsequent move will be made. My feeling is though that...

In 2019 we were 10 minutes a game of perimeter defense away from forcing 7 games against Houston
In 2020 we were 1 stop away from sweeping Denver, or a few minutes of perimeter defense away from beating them
In 2021 we were 10 minutes a game of perimeter defense from beating LAC

Not saying this means championship or anything, BUT if House is who he was in Houston (and he also might not be) it could be a bigger needle mover than people think. However, I still feel like we will have a move, it doesn't seem like we'd hire Ainge then only sign Danuel House.

It’s hard to say under the Ainge man, I hope we make a move as I wonder what Joe’s mindset is for the off-season, he’s an MLE guy and not sure he’s going to take that to keep playing. I don’t want to play contract roulette with Joe, get value now while you still can, and if we were interested in extending him, we would have done so already.

Who knows, might be Bogey on the move for a legitimate 3&D starter

But man, don't want to mess up that starting unit

Interesting stats Jax, hopefully Use can be a version of his time in Houston, obviously he's not thereabout maybe its a fit thing. Unfortunately for him, he doesn't have the tie Conley had to find that groove here, same could be said about Gay and to a lesser degree Whitesides. The latter 2 seemed to find a groove and spot quickly and made their skills an important improvement for the team. Conley's fit now seems like it always was. House is going to need to make his skills become part of what this team needs fairly quickly. I think he can based upon what he was in Houston. He should get time in Toronto!

Per Shams, Jazz signing James Ennis to a 10-day. This was the other wing on the wire I have had my eyes on, would certainly like to see he and House stick after making some kind of consolidation deal.

Forgot about this guy, thought he was on a roster. I imagine Utah are going to using 10 day hardships then normal 10 days on House and Ennis before they sign either one.

We are also getting Denzel Valentine on a 10-day. I liked him in the draft, reminds me of a poor man's Joe Ingles. Liking all these choices.

My understanding (and it could be wrong) is:

House (regular 10-day)
Ennis (hardship 10-day)
Valentine (hardship 10-day)
Pelle (hardship 10-day)

We cleared a roster spot for House.

We are no longer signing Ennis per Woj.

Whoa Valentine was solid before he got derailed with injuries and then the Bulls got depth

Interesting add. He's a swiss army knife

The very first time I saw Hughes play, I thought he had the smoothest looking delivery for three point shots that I can remember for any Jazz player. Then I rarely ever saw him play again. At one point I read that the issue is that Hughes played mostly zone defense at Syracuse and his man to man D was pretty weak. I am hopeful he can be coached up on D, that we re-sign him and that he doesn't go somewhere else to end up having an outstanding three point shooting career like happened with Dell Curry.

Hughes really does have a smooth jump shot. Looks effortless. Given his showing in the Toronto game, I was hopeful that he would get some minutes to showcase better. Interesting take on the zone defense and his need to develop there. Player development has been a calling card for this coaching staff, this seems to be a sure winner if they can do that with his defense as he offense is already pretty.

Yah, that game was really promising. I was expecting us to release him rather than Oni because we saw Miye more, but I'm glad we didn't.

Random stats: Joe Ingles has gone from competing for title of the highest percentage three point shooter in the entire NBA last season, where he finished number two to Joe Harris on 45.1% shooting --- filtering for 60 or more games played, 25 or more mpg and 4 or more 3pa/game, to number 48 this season on 35.7% shooting when applying similar type filters.

Besides aging, I think the combination of Joe playing a lot of minutes late last season when both Conley and Mitchell were out plus going right in to the Olympics during off season has him a bit worn out. I've still got a little bit of hope that Joe starts knocking down the wide open threes at a better percentage after the All Star rest break. This three point % dropoff seems unreasonably big.

Age, he’s probably not getting enough elevation.

Been out of commission lately due to the coof. Seems like I missed to Powell and Covington trade. Anyway, here are some Jazz related headlines.

They don't say nice things in this article, including the following: "And the other thing is, when you talk about the Jazz culture, part of the culture of this franchise right now is to to kiss Donovan Mitchell's butt at every turn," said MacMahon.

I'd take these Windhorst stories with a grain of salt. There aren't a lot of specifics in the stories. ESPN reporters like to stir the pot with gossip same as the Hollywood celebrity reporters, and in addition, NYC-based ESPN reporters like Windhorst are frequently trying to get stars to bail and come play for their long-struggling Knicks imo.
