I guess it's not a bad record, but we have so many losses vs bad teams.

Losing @Orlando, @ Detroit, losing twice vs Pacers or at home vs Spurs or Pelicans doesn't give me any confidence.

Then we have to play still 3X GSW, 4X Suns, 2X Grizzlies, 2X Clippers, 3X Mavericks and 3X Lakers and 1X Wolves who are in the race of playoffs in the west

I guess this team will finish around 54 wins at best.

I'm less concerned about the regular season record than I am about our playoff record, which is where we usually lay an egg.

With all the money the Jazz spent on Conley, Bojan, and re-upping Mitchell and especially Gobert to a huge contract, we are still at the same place we've always been (or we even went backwards in some seasons), but we are now an old, asset-depleted team. Maybe that's why Ainge was hired.

54 wins is still pretty good. Definitely a top 4 seed with that.

Are the Jazz in the luxury tax or will be soon?

Gobert and Mitchell's salaries don't go up too much next season but they go up every year from now on until the 2025-26 season when Rudy has a $47 million player option and Donovan has a $37 million player option.

If the Jazz let Ingles walk after this season, it would open up $13 million slot.

Would be hard to add significant talent during the season without trading one of the key rotation players.

Really most of the changes to teams occur during the offseason, when big trades and signings are made or not made. Or some teams get lucky when some low-salary vets end up having a huge impact, like the Warriors with Porter and Payton.

A team like the Celtics are going to try to keep their two starts, at least through this season. But if they keep hitting a ceiling, they may decide to part with either Tatum or Brown. Hard to do, because they're both still young and could be improving for a few more years before they actually hit their athletic prime.

For the Jazz, Donovan still has several years to improve before hitting his prime while Rudy is in his prime now. So the Jazz can keep them together for the next 5 seasons including the remaining part of this season, expect to get a top 4 seed and try to break through during this time. (though it looks like most of the supporting cast will be hitting free agency after the next 1 to 2 seasons).

Jazz will have a $13 million salary slot this summer and a $19.5 million salary slot ext summer (when Bojan) hits free agency. They may re-sign both, since they're good shooters and play well in the Jazz system. But they're also older guys so their salaries may represent an opportunity to get younger and more athletic.

This team won't do anything in the playoffs. That they give up 20 point first half leads to get blown out by scrubs in the regular season is what we are accustomed to seeing in the playoffs as well.

I don't think the players care about the regular season. They know it's about the playoffs.

That being said, the team, coaching, and players have done nothing to address the team's issues, so they will likely have the same post season results.
