Why are you guys losing so much lately?

I just took a look at the Jazz record and it has been pretty bad lately. You guys are also facing a pretty hard schedule in the next 10 games or so. What is going on? I understand missing Gobert is a big deal, but this has been against teams like the Rockets, Pistons, and Pacers.

Our perimeter defense has been in shambles, and we have been missing key players. It's not just covid, we have also had injuries during this stretch. We probably need some kind of not minor, but not too major move to shake things up and improve our perimeter defense.

Jazz haven't had their complete lineup intact since Christmas. Also, some lackadaisical play from some guys who think they might get traded.

Jazz's defense relies way too heavily on Gobert cleaning everything up, and he's missed a bunch of games.

We have injuries to some key players who missed some games lately. In addition, we're also in a funk and haven't been playing well even with a full roster. I'd say that playing against some good teams lately is also a factor, but we managed to lose to some pretty weak teams too, so who knows.

I get the injuries, but all the good teams the Jazz has played against have also been missing key players, Draymond Green, Anthony Davis, Malcolm Brogdon, DeAndre Ayton. I think the Raptors is the only healthy and at the same time, a good team the Jazz have met.

We suck... and it is about confidence... when you lose a few games in a row, looks like impossible to begin to win.

The good thing is we have competed vs gsw and Suns, the bad is we have lost vs some weak teams (Piston, NOP, Houston, Orlando to name a few)

We are losing because this team is really flawed. Defensively they are train wreck on the perimeter and just don't give a damn.

We were missing Rudy Gobert, Donovan Mitchell, Bojan Bogdanovic, Royce O'neale and Mike Conley in the first game against the Suns, and Rudy + Donovan in the second. Donovan played with a concussion in the second half of the Warriors game and that's the game Rudy got injured. We've had some bad losses but we've been playing better as of late, and the situations between these teams and who is missing more important players is just not comparable. We need to add perimeter defense, but we are still a very good team.

This would've been the perfect timing to find those hidden gems and develop a defensive identity outside of funneling to Rudy

The grit and blue collar type of activity shown by Clarkson, Gay, House, Forrest, and Paschall was encouraging, problem is reps with that group aren't enough to establish a chemistry and rhythm offensively and defensively to rub off on their teammates. Once everyone is back, it'll be the usual system oriented, funnel everything to Rudy defense

Unfortunately Quin has turned into a horrible player development coach. He doesn't even try anymore.

I feel Quinn and his assistants have done a great job developing. The problem to me is motivation. Their are a few guys that show up part time to play the other times they are just there. This is also on the coach and I think he needs to bench a couple and move up those who want to play hard. Or trade them, I am fine with that as well. The guys you talked about, Forrest, Paschall, House, Clarson, Gay have each played tough on both ends of the court. Give them more time and put Ingles on the deep bench. Take some time away from Bogie when he doesn't want to play both sides. One thing Sloan used to do that I really liked was if guys didn't want to play hard they learned to sit hard.

Gobert to us is like Doncic to Dallas, without him we are in shambles. Unfortunately we've focused so much on offense, but not given enough attention to defense. We used to have a collection of solid defenders during the Hayward days like Favors, Hayward, Burks, Hill, Neto, Exum, etc, but not there isn't much help aside of Royce O'Neale. Whiteside does a solid job, but they obviously don't share the floor. Much of the reason we are exposed during the playoffs is because our perimeter defense is terrible now, and puts way too much pressure on Gobert who can't guard everyone at the same time. Recently we've without Gobert, Mitchell, and other starters. If we have Gobert and Mitchell back, we'll be fine for the most part, but this team has taken a step back from last year for sure with declining play from some of key players in Conley, Clarkson, and Ingles. Our health was great to start the season, but we've been hit with COVID hard lately, but it's no excuse, almost every team has had to deal with it this season to some degree.
