Game 64: Utah Jazz (40-23) @ Dallas Mavericks (39-25)

Post#1 » by Crunch 99 » Mon Mar 7, 2022 5:31 pm

This is a very important game in the battle to assure home court advantage in the first round. Here are the expected lineups as of 10:30 am. There are no Jazz players out and it looks like the key Maverick players will play. Dallas is currently favored by one point.

Rudy Gobert's game status was changed to tossup grey GTD due to sore calf.

It sure feels like Conley has fallen off a cliff the last few games.

Its amazing that a team that has won 10 of it's last 13 games can feel so... awful?

It appears we are headed for a short playoff run then it will be time to blow it up including the coach.

You don't fire a coach who leads you to 50+ wins every year and maximizes his talent. This is a roster construction issue, and the architect of the roster was already fired.

But Mitchell seems to have stepped up his play-making. He's been dishing out assists at an elevated rate. So far in March:

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

Exactly! Not sure who people will be so much better, but I for one think the Jazz have one of the best coaches in the league.

I'm not sure if is Snyder or the roster. Still he is sometimes too stubborn with his rotations. Everybody knows how is going to sub, and in which minute mark. Who is gonna play with who... It's not difficult to do a plan vs that.

I personally think that the partnership with Snyder has run its course. Yes, the roster has something to do with it, but we change the roster every season around Gobert and Mitchell and the results are the same, while people bring up the same complaints about Snyder every season, so it's not like he made much adjustments. He's also been out-coached in the playoffs multiple times, and has shown stubbornness with his gameplans to the determent of the team on many an occasion. Should the Jazz exit the playoffs at the first or second round again, I think it's time for a change, both with the roster and the coach.

We've had two highly flawed rosters with him. One with no spacing, but amazing defense...one with amazing spacing, but no perimeter defenders. I think we thought getting away with the latter would work because of Gobert, but it doesn't in the playoffs, and there is no adjustment to be made other than to try switching, which we have done some this year. He's also changed the offense pretty dramatically to suite the players we have (especially eliminating the DHO at the three point line).

I'm not certain that the relationship with Snyder is wise to end but I think there's a good chance this is the last year. New GM's normally like picking their own coach and as awesome and Quinn is he's not Danny's choice.
