Thanks. That would be a bummer, and could change how I view him as back issues are tricky and have derailed careers.

Agreed, but there's also another view that apparently he's dealt with it all year so he might actually be more explosive once it heals, but also could necessitate him sitting out a year. Either way, I'm betting that If the red flag issues are legit that it pushes him down out of the lottery.

The Jazz are in lottery, mid and late 1st round, so their net will go broad, but Miller, seriously? Lively is also a surpring interview.
This could end up being a very exciting draft.

You never know, almost every draft some team moves up via trade. The fact they're talking to Miller suggests the Jazz are considering doing just that.

Also, I found the mention of Emoni Bates interesting. I wanted to comment on him a few times but forgot to. He slid to the 2nd round mostly because of off the court issues, but before that he was considered to be a top-5 pick. He's one guy I think could pay off by taking very little risk in terms of not having to draft him very high.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

^^It would have been a much better tweet if she said that the Jazz are interested in Dick.

He's also just not very good, if you saw him at Memphis or Eastern Michigan at all. In the nba combine he was okay in the scrimmages, showed that he is working on his offensive decision making, but there were at least 10 guys who were better. e.g. Seth Lundy was fantastic, would easily take him before Bates.

Something I’ve been thinking about today is resetting my expectations for these picks. I think I need to assume we’re walking away with a solid role player, a meh player and a bust because statically that’s most likely.

The odds of getting anything beyond that are pretty slim and even if the Jazz draft some of my favorites (Hendricks, Bufkin, etc) they’re highly likely to be a decent starter at best. Very low likelihood of getting a star.

David Locke sure seems to be conditioning his listeners to expect that the Jazz will be deciding between Cason Wallace and Ausar Thompson at #9. He seems to think Ausar will slip a bit.

Expected Top 15: 1. SAS - Wembanyama, 2. CHA - Henderson, 3. POR - Miller, 4. HOU - Amen, 5. DET - Whitmore, 6. ORL - Hendricks, 7. IND - Walker, 8. WAS - Black, 9. UTA - Wallace, 10. DAL (trade) - Ausar, 11. ORL - Dick, 12. OKC - George, 13. TOR - Bufkin, 14. NOL - Lively, 15. ATL - Klintman, 16. UTA - Jackson, Whitehead or Bilal

Utah will take Ausar or trade up for Black.
Ingles is cooked.

I wouldn't trade up for Black. If the Jazz were to trade up, I'd hope it'd be for someone better and a bit higher on the draft board than #8.

Black is the player in the top 8 I could see slipping out of the top ten. Not being a shooter is such a hard thing in the league.

I do agree Locke does seem to be telegraphing Wallace at this point. I’d love Wallace… at 16.

That’s fair but Black has crazy intangibles, but I’d be happier with Ausar if he was happy in Utah. We need rednecks like Malone or Pippen, guys that love to hunt and stuff.

I could see Will Hardy saying he wants Wallace to establish the culture of toughness and competitiveness he wants. Jazz could then swing for the fence at #16 (e.g., GG Jackson or Bilal Coulibaly). Jazz could offer #16 and #28 to move up to #14 and leapfrog the Hawks. (I think the Pels are going to need Dereck Lively now that Wembanyama is in their Division.)

I think Coulibaly is the value-pick Thompson twin...

The league he's playing in has a much higher competition level than the twins.

The twins are literally playing against high school kids at 20.

Also the combine measurements are in and a few Walker, Dick, Black came in quite a bit smaller than many thought.

Medical red flag on GG? Really? I hadn't heard anything on that.

Nope sorry - it was Wallace that some teams have red flagged

As opposed to being enomored by Dick. Or fancing Dick. Or that Ainge believes the organization needs Dick.
