Danny Ainge may be leaving

Short disclaimer: I am an anonymous dude on the Internet and I don’t really care if you believe me or not. That being said, I posted a thread here saying that Ainge would be the GM of the jazz by the end of that day, and it happened.
Now I am going to tell you that Ainge is seriously exploring purchasing the suns with a group and in doing would have to leave the jazz. We shall see.

That would be wild. But he did his main job. Convince Ryan to tank.

Can he at least trade Bogey/Clarkson/Conley before he goes?
That would be be pretty crazy though, but he for the hardest part of the job done.

I imagine he has signed Non competes but I don’t see Ainge as flush with assets.

Ainge allegedly wanting to leave with less than one year of service is like Durant wanting to be traded less than one year after he signed a new contract with the Nets --- not reasonable. Ainge is still in the process of dismantling the old Jazz roster and hasn't even made it through to the first draft where he would begin rebuilding the new roster.
Though Ainge would presumably be going to the Suns as a part owner rather than an employee, I think it would be tampering if talks take place involving Ainge without Smith's permission. Smith should refuse permission and tell Ainge he expects him to fulfill his contract with the Jazz, or at minimum, expects Ainge to work for the Jazz through the 2023 draft.
Another idea is for Smith to demand compensation from the Suns for releasing Ainge. I am not sure whether this type of transaction is still legal under CBA, but Ainge got Boston a draft pick from the Clippers for releasing Doc Rivers to coach the Clippers. So what is Danny Ainge worth?

Ainge would be a part owner and likely have a significant role in the team (duh).
Smith is supporting Ainge in trying to buy the Suns.....

I just question Danny’s lack of net worth and an owner(s) has to have no ego to let Danny be the main owner of franchise when Danny has no assets.

If this is the case, it would make any trades before it actually went down difficult, if not impossible.

I admit I'm wearing my tinfoil hat...but. If Ainge believes he has a good chance at being involved with the winning bidders, could he have rejected the Sun's offer because he wouldn't want them to be improved prior to the sale and would prefer the Sun's keep their future draft picks?

Does Ainge really have the type of money to be part of such a group?

Celebrity net worth has him at 10 mill.

In a context of buying a team that is probably worth over a billion dollars, that's nothing.

If Ainge has a billionaire friend or two that think he will be an asset to the ownership group they are putting together, his 10 mil will buy a larger percentage than your average Joe's 10 mil.

Ryan Smith could also work out a 1% ownership deal.

Again, the evaluation of the Suns is 1.6 billion, 1% of that is 16 million. 16 million is more than Ainges networth, he would .5%. Makes more sense to have Smith sell him 1% of the Jazz at a sweetheart deal and still be the head honcho in the FO.

If Ainge leaves during this season, I don't want Zanik to become the GM. Zanik has probably never had sole responsibility for trades and acquisitions (correct me if I am wrong), but he is tainted with the Dennis Lindsey era, which was underwhelming imo.

I wouldn't doubt if that's actually what's going on here. I don't think anybody believes Dwayne Wade chose the Jazz over a piece of the Heat if everything had been equal. Smith almost certainly gave him a deal Miami wasn't offering. I wouldn't be surprised if Danny Ainge is seeking a similar offer by "looking into" an ownership stake in the Suns.
