Re: John Collins?
Olynyk + THT + picks? Works salary wise.......
Would Collins actually make us better? Wouldn't he be just a poor man's version of Lauri? Imagine saying that last season, lol

Re: John Collins?
I saw someone from Portland wanting to trade Anfernee Simons for Collins and looking for a third team which seems intriguing. Simons would be an excellent building block to pair with Lauri.

Re: John Collins?
I'd be pretty suprised that Portland would want to trade Simons, even more so just for Collins.
Collins is kind of intriguing for the Jazz, but I kind of agree with Red that I have no idea what he could do with this roster, unless the Jazz also think he has another level like Lauri seems to have.

Re: John Collins?
Jazz interested in trading for John Collins
Ok, but... for who?
Olynyk is playing fairly well.
Vanderbilt is not my favorite player, but he is doing all the dirty work, and sometimes you need someone like him instead Collins, who is more talented, but is not going to work hard in defense...
I don't know what Hakws would ask.
I'm not sure I want to touch this team... sure I would send Gay and Sexton for him... but nothing more.

Meh. As long as they don't give up any picks then whatever.

Re: John Collins?
Don’t watch Portland games. But Simons looked really good against the Jazz tonight. I only watched the second half, but he looks athletic and aggressive. If Portland is shopping him we should jump at that. If Conley, Clarkson, or Beasley went down he could help fill in.
Can’t believe I’m talking about improving the roster when I have been one of the few people to want the Jazz to tank. But at this point the might as well keep everyone, make the playoffs and earn millions of dollars, and make moves on draft day or before next season.

Re: John Collins?
Which starter he is going to replace. JV or Olynyk
I love JV a lot, but can we play Lauri, JV and Collins together?
should we target Turner rather than Collins?

More Collins buzz, but as others have said ... For who?
Perhaps...
UT gets: John Collins & Trent Forrest
ATL gets: THT, Gay, Agbaji, future 1st round pick

I really like Collins, but also wonder about fit, whereas Turner would be a clear upgrade over Olynyk in the area where Kelly simply can't get it done ... being big & rim protection. On the slip side, a duo of JV & Turner kills the spacing that Olynyk brings. Tough call.

That's too much for Collins, imo......

Respect your point of view. However, keep in mind that Gay is a net-negative (age + contract + role), so the Jazz will have to give up something to rid the team of his contract (like a late future 1st round pick). So, it's basically THT and Agbaji for Collins, which I think is very reasonable.

Re: John Collins?
Sending out THT would mean the only one on the roster even remotely capable of handling point guard duties would be Mike Conley.
Who would Collins replace to make this team better? Vanderbilt is the dog of the team, and seems to be made of energy. Collins would bring more offensive power, but lacks the relentles motor Vanderbilt has and might offset the offensive gains on defense.
Olynyk? Collins at C? Would have the same issues Olynyk has, only amplified. Olynyk is also high motor player on both ends.
Move Vanderbilt to C and have Collins take over as PF? I'm sure you can see the problem in having a 6'9" 215lbs center.
So, what I believe is that Collins would be subtraction by addition - you'd have a better player, but a worse team.

From the basketball's perspective, travel is a nice pause from being pounded to the floor.

Switchable defenders, I’d rather have that.
Ingles is cooked.

Let's say we make that trade, where do we play Collins? Who goes to the bench, Olynyk or JV? Are we better? Means Kessler plays less minutes, does that make us better? I'm not categorically against getting Collins or even giving up "a lot" to get him...... Problem is, does he actually make us any better? I'm just not sure......

Anyone else find this funny?
"The Atlanta Hawks approached Utah on a trade of Collins for Markkanen and those talks didn't generate any traction."

I've asked the same question in this thread. I like Collins, but where does he fit? M.Turner is a name that is intriguing due to being an actual rim protecting center, but even his fit is questionable with Vandy, due to floor spacing.

Yes, only because I just can't believe they would be that delusional.

Re: John Collins?
I think Collins is empty calories...like a frontcourt Sexton (although I have more faith that Sexton could refine his game and really contribute off-ball or at least sixth-man flamethrower).
BTW, send Conley to ORL for expirings...we have a lot of talent in our playpen but need a babysitter with the ball in their hands - at least for a season and a half.
