This thread is meant for us to give our thoughts on the Jazz's draft night, give grades for every pick, for the Jazz draft as a whole, and post grades and pick analysis from sources around the league.

Let's hope it'll be a good one.

Ainge managed to draft at 10 and 29 two players who were at some point of the season in consideration for the #1 pick. Two upside picks. We'll see how things turn out in the end but that's an A+ draft as far as I'm concerned.

So far so good. Both solid picks.
This thing is not over yet; let's see what happens this afternoon.

This is about as good of an outcome as possible for the draft, Williams was a top 5 pick for me. Collier has potential but I feel like he's a steal at #29

Thrilled to get Cody Williams with #10- A

I was hoping that the Jazz would consolidate and trade up in the 1st round and pick Ryan Dunn. I was not high on Collier, but at #29 he is a very good value/swing for the fences pick as he was the #1 hs recruit and hopefully will come around- A-

We'll see if the Jazz use their #32 pick, but there are a handful of promising players still left.

I am pleased we got Williams, and thrilled to get Collier.

Instead of Filipkowski I would have chosen Tyler Smith.

Personally, I don't see how the Jazz could have a better draft than that. The right players fell into our lap.

Williams: B+
I liked Buzelis, too, but I think Williams was the obvious choice. I'm giving them credit for making that obvious choice.

Collier: B-
Honestly, I don't like the approach of waiting to see if someone falls to you. Luck means that someone did - though I liked Tyler Smith better here. Still, I think there is a world where Collier is a bit of a budget De'Aaron Fox. I wish we had moved up for Kyshawn George.

Filipowski: B-
I really don't like his game or the fit, but I can't argue with the value at the spot. Would have taken Smith.

Overall: B
I think we got lucky with how the board fell and made obvious choices given what happened.

Can u get lucky participating in a crapshoot we had no business being in?

Based on this draft, it looks like we will have a fairly interesting G-league team this season.

Frankly I don't have a clue about any of those guys. I have to trust about your opinion and looks like you guys are fairly happy with those picks.

I think UTA crushed it...considering their status and objectives right now. Just like last year - at least 3 very interesting prospects. Point is, if you draft 3 and one comes through, it's a big step forward. I think Collier might be a real one and Filipowski, where you got him, has really strong upside to have a long reliable career (or more). Williams is a solid pick at that spot...I think he may be overrated due to his genes, but still a very interesting and versatile player with upside.

Collier looks like Fultz (at his best), but without the injuries or apparent ceiling. "He'll learn to shoot" is a prayer - but far from impossible...I like his frame and his ferocity. Like Fultz, he can bull his way anywhere and protect the ball in traffic. He's got PG instincts in a linebacker body. Some reasonable growth in skill and efficiency makes him very interesting or better.

I like 2024 picks more than I liked 2023 ones.

Catchall Draft Grades ---

9) Cody Williams -- A. I've had him in my top 3 all year, and he's the guy I've wanted for the Jazz ever since Topic got injured. He needs a couple years to develop physically, but I think he has the most upside of any of the players the Jazz have drafted in these past two drafts. He was a much better player earlier in the season before his injuries.

29) Isaiah Collier -- A. He was over-scrutinized and over-criticized, as is often the case for players who come in with sky-high expectations. He's easily a lottery-level talent in this draft. He puts as much pressure on the rim as anyone in this draft class and has the potential to be a 20-pt. scorer. To get him at #29 is nuts, quite frankly.

30) Kyle Filipowski -- A. Filipowski has tremendous positional value as a big who can potentially stretch the floor, create off the dribble and facilitate. He needs to add some strength and toughness, and he won't be much of a rim deterrent due to his limited length and vertical pop, but he has the potential to be an Al Horford-like 5th starter on a high-level team. I was expecting him to get drafted by the early 20s.
