Not quite sure I agree with a 3 for 1 trade, but you don't want too many young guys in the next 3 years.

The 2025 Cleveland Pick is likely #30.
The 2029 Minnesota Pick is Top 5 Protected, converting to a 2029 2nd Round Pick (#31-35 or #33-37 if two expansion teams are added). Minnesota could blow by 2029. And they could have injuries.
The 2027 Pick is the Worst of Cleveland, Minnesota and Utah.
Seems like a fair trade if the 2031 Clipper picks end up in the Lottery, which it might. Even if it's #15 to #19, seems fair.

Re: 2024 Trade Rumors
It's asset consolidation. Three picks in the high 20s for one unprotected pick from a team that could be really bad. In the short term it really helps the Suns but it's a reasonable gamble that could pay off down the road and a very good trade chip. The Jazz have too many picks anyway, it's good to package the worst of them for a better asset. It's not like they needed the 30th pick in this draft.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

The 2029 pick the Jazz traded would be the least favorable of the Jazz, Wolves and Cavs picks so there is no need to worry the Jazz miss out on a high pick if Minnesota collapses.

Another added benefit: this trade paves the way for the Suns to get Jimmy Butler. An improved Phoenix Suns can push down Minnesota down the standings into lottery territory this season and also keep them lower in the standings in future seasons.

Re: 2024 Trade Rumors
This is a brilliant move. Even IF the Suns pick doesn’t pan out in 2031 it holds a ton of value as a pick that is perceived as valuable for years and years to come.
The LA pick and Suns pick alone could probably get you a semi star or star player in return if one becomes available the Jazz think is a good fit. I suspect the Suns pick will be moved when Ainge thinks we need one more piece to get over the hump and into contention in 3-4 years (assuming we get lucky in the draft, etc).
If I am Ainge my next two moves I would be looking to do are get our pick unprotected from OKC and get the protections off the LA pick. Any combination of Collins, Sexton, Clarkson and our other players not named Lauri and Kessler to make that happen. If Ainge somehow got both done we would have the ultimate flexibility to tank until the right moment a player or two becomes available. And with the new CBA players are going to become available.
Also love this helps potentially push Minnesota down the standings as mentioned above. Helping LA get Sexton or Collins might also help with that.

Re: 2024 Trade Rumors
Hate saying it…. But in also good news for the Jazz DiVincenzo is out with an injury for a while. He was starting for them and shooting well for them. Without watching the Wolves much I imagine he was one of their only floor spaces. Should mean more losses for the TWolves on top of Phoenix hopefully improving. Still have a soft spot for Rudy and Ant is a funny dude and fun to watch so it sucks their loss is our gain. But any chance at another lotto pick is ok in my book.

Trade Alert: Jazz Trade 3 FRPs to Suns for 2031 Unprotected Pick
Suns Trade Unprotected 2031 First Rounder To Jazz For Three First Round Picks
https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/278860/Suns-Trade-Unprotected-2031-First-Rounder-To-Jazz-For-Three-First-Round-Picks
The Phoenix Suns have traded their unprotected 2031 first round pick to the Utah Jazz for three future first round picks. The Suns will acquire the least favorable first round picks between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Minnesota Timberwolves in 2025, the least favorable between the Cavaliers, Wolves and Jazz in 2027, as well as the least favorable selection between the Cavaliers, Wolves and Jazz in 2029.
The Suns have tripled their available first round picks to trade, while the Jazz are consolidating their surplus picks for a higher variance selection in 2031 via Phoenix. The Suns could now make multiple trades rather than just one with their future pick in 2031.
The Suns have been aggressive on the trade market and have been linked with interest in acquiring Jimmy Butler.

Ita a gamble. I approve that we consolidate the 3 picks, that could be #30, #27 and #25.
I hope PhOENIX IS REALLY BAD IN THE FUTURE.

Re: Trade Alert: Jazz Trade 3 FRPs to Suns for 2031 Unprotected Pick
If Ainge even sniffs the Suns might not be absolute garbage in 2031 he just trades it early. If we tank properly the next 3 years we could be trading that pick for a good vet star-ish type player in 2029. The last piece of an all-in move.
Perception is value. That pick is perceived as one of the best picks out there. And we have years and years to use it the best way we can. And at worst…we wait and see if the Suns blow in 2031 which is highly probable.
